Role Value Proposition: 

This Senior Software Develop Engineer position will be responsible for the ETL frameworks/programs, jobs, files, and environment in the Production processing of actuarial valuation data extracts received from the offices within MetLife’s worldwide operation.  #LI-WRAPJOB  #LI-SU1


Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be capable of modifying or enhancing applications in accordance with business requirements
  • Application Development and Data Management
  • Build scalable Spark data pipelines leveraging scheduler/executor framework
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions core ETL Frameworks, Using Spark, other ETL tools
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate their passion for implementing and improving DevOps processes
  • Support and enhance existing DevOps automation framework with a focus on enhancing end-user experience through self-service solutions, speed of delivery, and high-quality results
  • Use understanding of the intersection of development and operations (DevOps) to promote process maturity around DevOps and CI/CD processes
  • Document all modifications, enhancements, and analysis
  • Prepare definition of functional problems and make recommendations for enhancements or modifications to deliver solutions
  • Produce technical specifications and test plans/test scripts


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/MIS with a minimum of five years progressive experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years (2-3 yrs. (for Junior) 5+ yrs. (for senior)) of experience developing, enhancing, and support application software
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience of Hadoop, Streaming and Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Minimum 2+ years of Agile/Scrum experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience building CI/CD processes.
  • Minimum 2+ years successful experience with DevOps and Cloud technologies, preferably as a developer
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining software frameworks on Spark, Hadoop MR, Kafka/Scala/Python etc. utilizing distributed computing architecture.
  • Hands-on experience of developing data pipeline and data prep modules using Scala or Python on MR /Python/Spark.
  • Ability to thrive and produce results with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Superior analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience with Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitHub, Azure Cloud Services and DevOps, Visual Studio, .NET, C#, Shell scripting, Bamboo and Azure pipeline development
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of applications and possess the capability of producing professional looking documentation and flow charts.


  • Exceptional SQL programming skills.
  • Experience in designing and building complex ETL workflows.
  • Must have strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Beyond Compare or other volume data compare tools.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions in Big Data and Streaming Platforms using Hadoop, MR, Kafka and Spark.
  • Knowledge of processing and deployment technologies such YARN, Linux and Containers.
  • Experience designing software frameworks on Spark, Hadoop MR, Kafka, Java/Scala/Python.
  • Experience building real-time pipeline is a plus.
  • ETL background with some experience in scripting such as Shell, C# or VB.Net is a plus.
