MetLife Tech University is our program for rising university juniors and seniors and entry-level professionals that provides training and educational opportunities for emerging top talent. We offer two tracks – Internship and Professional – in order to immerse participants in our business, people, and culture.

MTU Internship Program

The MTU Internship Program is seeking innovative, enthusiastic, technically-oriented individuals to participate in its, 10-week MetLife Tech University (MTU) Internship Program. This program provides students an opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues and senior leaders to learn, grow, and deepen technical and professional expertise, while building their network at one of our Global Technology and Operations office locations from New York to Florida.

Interns will be paid and gain technical acumen and experience what it is like to work at a Fortune 40 company while building meaningful relationships with full-time MetLife employees and fellow interns.

MTU Interns will be placed in one of the following tracks based on skills and interests:

  • Database Administration
  • Data Science
  • Application & Software Development
  • Business Systems Analysis
  • Infrastructure/Network Engineering
  • Project Management/Project Lead

MTU Professional Program

The MTU Professional Program seeks to equip participants with the skills necessary to succeed at MetLife.  The multi-month program consists of a robust curriculum of professional development and technical skill courses aimed at increasing proficiency and easing the transition from school to work. By the end of the program, successful MTU Professionals will be integrated into work-teams and will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of current business projects in a variety of areas.

Participants will be paid and receive business professional development, build their network, and deepen their technical acumen as well as work on a large-scale capstone project for their team. By the end of the program, participants will be integrated into the business and will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of the current business projects. The program includes:

  • 20-week training program, including 8 weeks spent in the Global Technology US Headquarters in Cary, NC
  • A robust, individualized curriculum designed to give on-the-job learning to advance professional development and technical skills
  • Integration into project teams in the fields of:
    • Data Administration
    • Data Science
    • Application & Software Development
    • Business Systems Analysis
    • Infrastructure/Network Engineering
    • Project Management & Project Lead

Candidate Criteria for MTU

MTU Internship Program

  • Undergraduate students (rising juniors and rising seniors) from an accredited college/university majoring in Math, Computer Engineering, Information Science, Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, CIS, Statistics, Business Administration (majors outside of this list will be taken into consideration as well)
  • Strong technical curiosity to help deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers who are excited by complex challenges
  • Passionate and curious individuals with a proven record of achievement

MTU Professional Program

  • Students and entry-level professionals who have a background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Technology, Networking, MIS, CIS, Statistics, or Business Administration  (majors outside of this list will be taken into consideration as well)
  • Relevant campus involvement, work experience, and/or community service experience
  • Strong technical curiosity and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
