The Financial Consultant will be part of the MIM Finance organization in Whippany, NJ (open to other locations noted above), which is responsible for finance, accounting and reporting activities for MetLife’s Investment Management business.  Specific areas of responsibility include: Financial reporting, Financial close, Financial projections and Plan, Treasury / Cash Management and Management Reporting. 


Key Responsibilities:  

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Financial reporting—Provide analysis to support quarterly Financial Reporting, specifically for Revenue by account and by client. Support Assets under Management reporting as necessary.
  • Monthly / Quarterly Financial Close —
    • Download revenue data from billing systems and from ledger to reconcile monthly activity; Reconcile revenue by client across asset sectors and accounts monthly;
    • Assist with automating revenue by client and revenue by account reconciliation;
    • Prepare month-end accrued revenue by client aging analysis across asset sectors;
    • Review and analyze monthly actual results compared to projection and provide variance explanations to Corporate;
    • Review and analyze quarterly actual results against prior quarter, prior year quarter and Plan quarter as part of QFS package; provide variance explanations to Corporate.
  • Financial Projections & Plan—Interface with business partners on the asset management teams and others on the development of the Annual Plan and monthly financial (revenue & AUM) projections; Refresh monthly projections across asset sectors; Follow-up with asset managers and others on projection and plan variances to actual results.
  • Treasury / Cash Management—Assist with the development of monthly cash flow projections, including cash receipts, cash disbursements and projected cash balances. Work with the GOSC team to ensure all cash accounts are reconciled to ledger each month. 
  • Management Reporting—Compile certain schedules /analyses for Quarterly reporting packages & monthly MIM Finance review packages, including Funded/Unfunded commitments, AIC Co-investment in MIM-sponsored products, Sales projections, and the Brighthouse Financial revenue analysis. Also, review file connectivity and optimize sources to reduce potential for duplicate values and errors.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of related experience, preferably investment management or Big 4 Public Accounting experience. 
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate issues, propose and implement solutions. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude, commitment to continuous learning, willingness to challenge the status quo to improve processes.
  • Strong Excel skills. Ability to work with large data sets and find “the story.”


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Prior experience reconciling output to source systems and following up on discrepancies 
  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft General Ledger.
