The MetLife Investment Management Marketing (MIM Marketing) team is tasked with collaborating with the Institutional Client Group and Public Fixed Income, Private Capital and Real Estate investment teams to grow MIM’s third-party asset management business. We also support the marketing efforts of our Agriculture Finance business. MIM Marketing is a strategic, client-focused marketing practice that is dedicated to driving business impact in all regions where MIM is offering investment management and commercial lending services. With a focus on client led value propositions, relevant client engagement and fostering a purpose driven brand, the team is committed to enhancing MIM’s relationship with investors and showing clients that MIM is institutional, but far from typical. MIM is a global business with $666 bn in assets under management as of June 30, 2021.

 

Role Value Proposition

The Institutional Channel Marketing Director is a key member of the MetLife Investment Management Marketing team responsible for developing, managing and measuring the impact of marketing programs and materials. The primary focus is to engage with investment and distribution teams to identify and implement key marketing programs that ultimately build awareness, familiarity and differentiation of our brand.

 

This role will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and sits at the center of our marketing efforts to institutional investors. The Institutional Channel Marketing Director will work closely with institutional sales teams, consultant relations, investment teams, compliance, legal, and all members of our marketing team.  Key skills required are a deep understanding of institutional investment management marketing, knowledge of investment products, ability to effectively lead multiple projects and implement programs in a timely manner and excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Success in this position requires you to be proactive and collaborative.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and develop integrated marketing programs targeting key buyer personas to grow our pensions business.
  • Work closely with our public fixed income and private capital investment teams to grow our business in these areas.
  • Develop and position our client value propositions to build awareness and familiarity in key markets plus identify how we can best differentiate our offering.
  • Work closely with our head of client insights to identify research necessary to better understand our target markets and take the market research learnings and develop marketing messages.
  • Work closely with our head of thought leadership and distribution teams to determine how best to position and promote thought leadership that nurtures our relationships at different stages.
  • Understand the buyer journey and work with the investment and distribution teams to create content that enables the buyer to better understand our capabilities.
  • Work closely with the digital marketers to promote our brand and capabilities via digital channels.

 

Required

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 10 years marketing related experience; with at least 8 years in the institutional investment management industry
  • Understanding of and experience related to public fixed income and private credit investment markets
  • Experience marketing to U.S. defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension funds
  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or CFA considered a plus
  • Proven ability in managing integrated marketing campaigns for an institutional investment manager
  • Ability to collaborate with people throughout the organization and move forward on meeting objectives
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and meet deadlines; good at anticipating next steps and proactive in moving projects forward
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and experience using digital marketing tools plus a comfort in using data to draw conclusions
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapidly changing marketplace
  • Continually shows initiative to learn and develop
  • Willing to take ownership and be accountable for actions
