Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife is seeking a Business Systems Analyst within IT to join our P&C team.  The team member will act as liaison between business partners, application development and testing support teams to deliver projects impacting MetLife’s profitability and compliance with State Regulations.  The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting, refining, documenting, reviewing and communicating technical requirements.  We need a self-starter to provide technical guidance concerning the business implications of application development projects. In this position you will have the opportunity to put your experience and education to work in an energetic and highly collaborative environment where a wide variety of projects will be assigned. 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert between business users/BAs and IT project teams and translates Business Requirements into IT action items intended to guide programming efforts.
  • Facilitates design meetings and provides minutes, captures action items, and monitors/tracks open items and/or work stream tasks to resolution & lead functional documentation design (use cases, reports, data mapping, data transformations)
  • Work closely with Project Manager, architects, Tech Leads, Test team, business users/BAs and applicable outside entities (vendors and others)
  • Works with Project Managers to ensure compliance to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & provides estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously and coordinates with other BSAs as needed based on project requirements.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 


  • 4+ years of analytical experience
  • Significant Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing Use cases / Functional Designs, Technical Designs, and Test Cases 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with major in technology related field or equivalent work experience
  • Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (or other design tools)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, demonstrated teamwork and professionalism.



  • P&C Insurance industry experience
  • Competencies in both Waterfall and Agile software development
  • Knowledge of  Metlife P&C insurance products
  • Skills with requirements management and collaboration tools (eg., Blueprint)
