Corporate Ethics and Compliance (“CEC”) delivers a compliance risk framework that enables the businesses and functions to comply with applicable internal and external rules and regulations and maintain risk levels within MetLife’s risk appetite. CEC provides constructive challenge to the businesses and functions, partnering closely with them to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a culture of compliance. CEC is part of Global Risk Management (GRM) and maintains a matrixed reporting line to Legal Affairs.

 

The Global Sales Practices Unit (GSPU) within CEC is responsible for the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of global compliance programs for MetLife businesses relating to Sales Practice and Customer Benefits Payment compliance risks. This individual contributor position is responsible for carrying out global obligations with respect to the function of the GSPU and relevant company policies and compliance with applicable international and local laws/regulations and treating customers fairly principles. The role entails supporting compliance teams globally with sales practice and customer benefits payment risk mitigation, remediation, and compliance risk management efforts.

 

The role requires an effective communicator and a proactive problem solver who can lead large scale enterprise-wide efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the implementation & maintenance of global policies, supporting standards & procedures.  Partner with local compliance and Business in its effective implementation.
  • Support global training programs, communications & other awareness initiatives for customer protection, Sales Practice & Customer Benefits Payment compliance.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRI), create reports, provide analysis to illustrate trends.  
  • Contribute data-driven strategies, conduct data analysis and surveillance activities to proactively identify issues.
  • Manage enterprise-wide projects for GSPU, coordinating with global stakeholders, tracking deliverables, and providing reporting to senior leadership
  • Develop/Maintain the department’s collaboration & information sharing platform & other systems/tools.  
  • Act as a subject matter expert for sales practices and treating customers fairly.
  • Support strategic partnerships with key risk partners including Global Customer Service Operations, Human Resource/Employee Relations, Legal, Governance, and Special Investigations Unit.
  • Create, maintain, and manage team-related documentation including manuals, training materials, presentations, and reports.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture that embraces change and succeeds through both collaboration and individual accountability.
  • Manage special projects as needed.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Exceptional personal integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently on multiple priorities
  • Strong follow-up skills and an appropriate sense of ownership and urgency
  • Cultural fluency and ability to work effectively with a diverse, global population
  • Skilled at analytical and creative thinking and problem solving
  • Strong customer focus and relationship building skills
  • Experience creating communication materials, presentations, and reports
  • Expertise in project management
  • Knowledge of learning, collaboration, social media, and/or survey tools and technology
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of financial services a plus
  • Experience with conduct, sales practices, compliance, or a related field preferred
