Role Value Proposition
The position resides within the US Statutory Shared Services Team to work in collaboration with the Statutory Reporting Units and will assist with US Statutory Rating Agency Surveys functions (ie. AMBest, Moody’s, Fitch, S&P and ACLI, and data requests). Various surveys are completed on a Monthly, Quarterly or Annual Basis. Additionally, this position will support various State Reporting functions (i.e. state required forms, inquiries and examinations) and Federal Reporting Filings. US Shared Services collectively performs a wide range of tasks in support of US Statutory Reporting, GAAP reporting and external requests. This position also supports functions to report financial information in an accurate and timely manner for Statutory Filings including but not limited to certain Statutory Footnotes, Gold Standard preparations and various ad hoc statutory related projects and statutory survey needs. This candidate will work closely with the Treasury Department and will also provide a high level of interaction with all levels of management from various lines of business and functional areas. Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills are critical to the success of this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing the work of the GOSC team members, working with submitters regarding questions and concerns, and preparation of certain surveys handled stateside. This team member will also be involved with communications with Treasury submitters and requests as they own the Treasury’s potentially changing survey priorities and must correctly level set expectations for delivering completed and reviewed surveys.
- Identify, implement or strengthen internal controls in existing/new processes and develop process improvements.
- Assist with preparation of various annual state forms under the State Reporting Process and Federal Reporting requirements.
- Communicates and provide management with various levels of management both within and outside of the department
- Support external reporting requirements (STAT), as well as generated certain components for utilization by other teams
- Maintain controlled and efficient processes
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Required:
- 5+ years’ experience in financial reporting and/or analytic role
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to analyze data and problem solve complicated ad hoc requests
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of Statutory Insurance concepts, principles, and reporting
- Experience with Workiva (Wdesk) and Oracle Cubus
- Ability to modify, develop and improve procedures and policies to meet reporting needs/requirements.
