Role Value Proposition:
This position is primarily responsible for the preparation and review of GAAP/SEC financial statements and related filings, including support preparation, XBRL tagging review and all projects related to (i) process improvement, (ii) enhanced reporting and (iii) technical research, each of which is instrumental in the timely and accurate presentation of GAAP financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares financial statements, disclosures, and reports within regulatory reporting of accounting activities.
- Assists with quarterly and year-end reporting. Preparation and review of footnotes and XBRL support for various companies.
- Coordination with internal stakeholders for information reported within the notes to financial statements. The information is to be efficiently and effectively analyzed for completeness and accuracy.
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment is critical.
- Project management whereby financial reporting objectives are continuously evaluated in relation to ongoing projects and changes in accounting guidance. These projects are classified according to critical parameters (i.e., priority, scope, end date, etc.) and are assigned in a balanced manner consistent with staff capabilities, workloads, and performance development goals. Consideration of factors such as dependencies, stakeholders and possible barriers are essential to achievement of optimal results.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required
- 2+ years of experience with the preparation and review of GAAP financial statements
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Understanding of, and commitment to, processes and controls designed to ensure accurate reporting
- Ability to interface and collaborate with management in other groups that submit information to the SEC reporting group
- Strong communication and time management skills
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Completion of, or working towards, CPA, MBA, or CMA
