As the insurance industry shifts due to changes in regulation, society and technology MetLife wants to ensure that we are prepared for these changes.  The Emerging Actuarial Issues team works across the actuarial organization to identify, quantify, communicate and prepare for impacts that result from these industry shifts.  As a member of the Emerging Actuarial Issues team you will participate in monitoring and influencing the regulatory reporting environment by working with government relations on changes related to principle based reserves and international capital standards.  In addition to these specific responsibilities the incumbent will also be involved in various special projects related to corporate restructurings, IFRS and GAAP Long-Duration Targeted Improvement changes, and incorporating new technology into the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in industry groups dealing with regulatory changes
  • Provide regular updates on industry’s regulatory activity and help determine appropriate responses to various proposed changes
  • Monitor external environments for items of interest to Actuarial Resources and ensure Actuarial Resources has appropriate response
  • Work with Program Management and Actuarial Technical Advisors in order to size and implement process changes resulting from industry activity
  • Assist with various special projects related to emerging technology, organizational and accounting changes


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • ASA
  • Exposure to or knowledge of various regulatory reporting environments
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously



  • Experience with life and variable annuity products
  • Strong PC and technical skills, including spreadsheets, actuarial software and database applications
  • Ability to work with a variety of areas across the company
