Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife is seeking a Legal Administrative Associate for its San Francisco Office.  This position will support attorneys advising the real estate investments and third-party asset management.  As an Administrative Assistant supporting Investments, you will be responsible for responding to emails, calendar management, answering phone calls, arranging travel, preparing presentation materials and submitting expenses.  This is an opportunity to join a legal team of highly experienced lawyers.  Securities investments attorneys advise the MetLife Investments Management on a broad array of matters, including private and structured investments transactions, portfolio management, derivatives, securities lending, workouts, and insurance law compliance.  Real estate investments attorneys provide services related to commercial real estate and agricultural investments, including commercial and agricultural loan originations, commercial real estate equity acquisitions and sale transactions, real estate joint ventures, loan enforcement actions, workouts, and related regulatory matters.  Third party asset management attorneys provide regulatory and structural support to MetLife’s third-party asset management business, advising on the development of new products and negotiations with investment management clients.


Key Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for a broad range of administrative and logistical tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Providing administrative assistance to attorneys and other team members as needed
  • Record keeping, including electronic and paper document and file management
  • Calendar management involving key internal and external stakeholders,
  • Proactively handling meeting logistic to include travel arrangements, preparation of detailed travel itineraries, conference room reservations needs, etc.
  • Preparing high-quality, accurate documents, memos, slides, charts, etc. 
  • Handling/screening phone calls– triaging calls, manage incoming/outgoing mail, including the appropriate handling of sensitive and confidential correspondence.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of expense reports, purchase orders, etc.
  • Providing back-up assistance in the absence of other colleagues.
  • Assisting with department project as needed, using judgment to make decisions, within the scope of responsibilities and other work-related duties as assigned


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • At least 1 plus years of experience that demonstrates the ability to carry out administrative and technical functions described.
  • Possess excellent computer skills and a high level of proficiency in various programs – including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Candidate should possess excellent communication skills with an ability to respond with professionalism in verbal as well as written communications.
  • Candidate must be independent, proactive, self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, handle multiple tasks with frequent tight deadlines, work well in team environments, and be productive when working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong judgment as well as the ability to work with extremely confidential documents and information and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Candidates are expected to work independently, have good communication skills; be able to work well with others; organize and prioritize work; and work for multiple attorneys.
