The Senior Analyst, Executive Compensation plays a key senior analytical role in ensuring the competitiveness and effectiveness of MetLife’s global compensation programs. This role participates in global research and analysis around executive compensation program competitive intelligence, provides data and analysis to ensure MetLife’s senior executive compensation opportunities are market-aligned. Supports public company requirements such as the annual proxy statement, in addition to preparation of materials for the Board Compensation Committee. Supports the global Pay For Performance process through modeling/testing/analytics, prepares senior executive annual and long-term incentive accrual reports & other analyses throughout the year, collaborating closely with Compensation/Total Rewards, HRIS, Payroll, IT, Legal and Finance colleagues around the world.

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exec Comp Analytics includes preparing, analyzing and maintaining senior executive accruals, comp planning materials/tools, comp histories, tally sheets, contributing to Compensation Committee and Board materials, and conducting analysis and reporting throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare annual proxy statement tables and graphics (including CD&A exec pay tables, CEO pay ratio calculation, Summary Comp Table, termination/280G tables, etc.) and review/update narratives as needed.
  • Monitor proxy advisory firm policies and developments and review of annual proxy reports; periodically review exec comp peer groups and other external benchmark data intelligence.
  • Utilize exec comp/governance vendor platforms for research and reporting.
  • Partner with the compensation benchmarking team to confirm mapping of senior executive roles to surveys and refine matches; analyze, contribute to recommendations and develop executive-ready graphics and materials to convey findings.
  • Monitor peer company public disclosures and summarize competitive and evolving practices, as well as regulatory developments and headlines related to exec comp.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and Total Rewards team members to support effective delivery of executive compensation and reporting (e.g., final annual LTI submissions, executive stock ownership).
  • Expedite the evaluation of executive roles globally by partnering closely with the compensation leads to ensure appropriate job documentation and conducting preliminary grade determinations.
  • Partner with MetLife’s executive recruiting team and compensation leads to draft compensation offers that balance external competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Perform analysis, modeling, and calculations for incentive programs, perquisites, special requests, and other ad hoc data / research / analysis requests, including for Audit controls (SOX, LTI).
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in a corporate and/or consulting environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel (including regression analysis, modeling, pivot tables, executive-ready graphics, etc.), Power Point, Microsoft Applications, and report writing; database skills preferred
  • Extreme detail-orientation and commitment to accuracy and quality balanced with timeliness
  • Clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present facts, insights and recommendations with effective storytelling
  • Analytical yet practical, critical thinker; must have intellectual curiosity and “connect the dots”; skilled at conveying complex topics clearly and succinctly
  • Strong organization, planning and project management skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments or functions as well as people in other cultures and with diverse perspectives
  • Unquestionable reputation for integrity and ethics with an orientation for compliance and confidentiality
  • Global mindset, with perspectives beyond home country
  • Adept at flexing focus and balancing multiple stakeholders and projects when urgent requests cause reprioritization of deliverables

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in an executive compensation consulting firm or public company compensation function
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited university in a related discipline (e.g., business, accounting, actuarial, economics, finance)
  • Experience and understanding of enterprise information systems on a global scale, and external vendor-related systems/platforms. Ability to quickly grasp proprietary HR processes and systems; familiarity with Oracle-cloud and/or Willis Towers Watson’s Compensation Software and global grading system a plus
  • Attainment of, or progress towards, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) designation through WorldatWork

Some minimal travel may be required, particularly for periodic team meetings in NYC

The wage range for applicants for this position is $78,000 - $131,400. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
