MetLife’s Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) business provides solutions tailored to meet the unique business needs of plan sponsors in funding and managing the risks associated with qualified, non-qualified and welfare benefit obligations. The group is organized around three primary product areas: Life & Income Funding Solutions, Stable Value & Investment Products, and U.S. Pensions, which collectively offer pension products, institutional income annuities, stable value products, corporate and bank owned life insurance, and post-retirement benefit solutions. In addition, RIS provides annuity solutions for personal injury claims in the structured settlements market.

This position supports the strategy & planning activities within the Chief of Staff function for RIS. The incumbent will work closely with the RIS Chief of Staff and with leaders and associates across RIS and partner organizations to support a variety of strategic initiatives for the business.

Position includes metric definition, compilation and reporting, planning and meeting coordination, project management of organizational initiatives, coordination of major communications/presentations, and ad hoc projects with high level of analytical skills required.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with creation and update of regular metric reports that support the RIS business objectives and results: design slides, identify metrics to include, and ensure accurate and up-to-date information, timely preparation, and clear and visually compelling presentation of financial and non-financial results
  • Coordinate internal associate engagement initiatives: Partner with RIS associates and committees to create holistic messaging of engagement initiatives, clearly defined purpose and scope, and tracking metrics.  Manage messaging and ensure seamless execution and/or complete ownership as internal committees evolve.
  • Development of senior management communications for use by the Executive Vice President of RIS at Town Halls, internal Leadership meetings, and external events.  Lead the RIS Employee Recognition Program, with assistance in shaping the program vision and responsibility for regular program communication, execution, and associate feedback
  • Partner closely with the Communications team to create communication materials for organization emails and company-wide initiatives, assist in design of internal department website, manage email distribution lists, and engage employees though platforms such as Yammer.
  • Partner with RIS associates and operational areas across the US Business to build strong working relations, improve workflow and organizational issues, and manage calendar of key dates for Executive Vice President of RIS.  Assist with the development and tracking of Business Continuity across RIS.  Lead and execute special projects adhoc including those that require analytical capabilities

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • BA/BS
  • 6+ years experience in one or more of the following functions, preferably at large companies: planning & strategy, management consulting, finance, or actuarial. 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Understanding of financial data and how to create appropriate management reports. 
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and proven success with creation of clear, professional, and visually compelling presentations
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion due to confidential nature of information

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization and driving results without direct authority
  • Experience with data analytics
