Role Value Proposition: 

The Retirement & Income Solutions US Pension Pricing team is seeking a Senior Actuarial Consultant to support its responsibilities and to assist in transforming its operating environment.  Core responsibilities include pricing of pension risk transfer transactions and developing customized solutions for corporate clients.  This position will work with Product Management, RIS Contracts, Valuation, ALM, Enterprise Risk Management, Retirement & Income Solutions CFO, and Investments on a regular basis.  This position will also provide actuarial support for the team’s projects to enhance processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Pension Risk Transfer annuity pricing. Responsibilities include review of defined benefit plan documents (or summary) and understand plan provisions; analyze participant level data; set actuarial assumptions within company guidelines; perform actuarial calculations and sensitivity analysis; and analyze profitability; review investment portfolios for appropriateness; review offer letters and contracts for consistency with pricing assumptions.
  • Develop pricing financial metrics and present reports to Management.
  • Provide actuarial support to internal partners (i.e. Implementation and Global Operations) on all pricing issues.  Act as a subject matter expert if asked to interface with external parties.
  • Collaborate with the Contract team to develop a comprehensive bid letter and term sheet for each case and contracts after the sale.
  • Perform post-sales pricing related functions, such as creating individual cost listing, analyzing price variance, handling amendment calculations, etc. 
  • Make recommendations on refining current processes to enhance the quality of work and improve efficiency.
  • Develop new and/or modify existing pricing applications, which may be based on Excel, Access, Visual Basic, MoSes, or other programming languages. 
  • Complete special projects and act as a resource to internal partners on actuarial issues.
  • Supervisor Responsibilities: None. May provide guidance to junior staff members.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Minimum of 5 years of actuarial expereince.
  • Pension Risk Transfer pricing experience is required.
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Access, Visual Basis, C++ or other programming languages).
  • Excellent analytical and spreadsheet skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High degree of business and financial acumen.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science.



  • ASA, Career ASA and/or CFA is preferred.
  • Experience with MoSes.
