Role Value Proposition:

The financial consultant (associate) will be a key resource of the Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The Retirement and Income Solutions segment is MetLife’s retirement business for institutional customers.


The candidate will be responsible for consolidating financial results, budgets, plan and projection models, and preparing financial reports to help the team and senior management understand financial trends across our business units.  The candidate will prepare reports for projected financial metrics (P&L, Sales, Balance Sheet, cashflows, PFOs, Embedded Value) relative to comparable periods, including prior projections, plan, and actual financial results.  S/he will also perform some analysis as needed to help the team understand business drivers of change and help resolve discrepancies The candidate will collaborate with members of the RIS FP&A team, the RIS CFOs and product analysts, RIS Controllers, US Business Finance, Expense Reporting, and other key finance partners in the reporting of the 3-year plan and monthly re-projections.  The candidate will also be expected to help prepare management presentations to help articulate the key performance drivers, economic and non-economic assumptions, product/industry trends, and risks/opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consolidate financial projections/budgets/results

  • Data management of financial models and reports

  • Perform iterative improvements to reporting and analytic capabilities

  • Understands business plans and their relationship to the financial arena.

  • Lead projects as necessary.

  • Analyze various financial measures such as profitability, mortality, sales & other metrics under GAAP, STAT & stress scenarios. 

  • Partner with RIS Statutory team to create/enhance and produce monthly STAT projection report.



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or another field of expertise or equivalent work experience.

  • 5 + yrs. financial experience in a public or private company environment with proven ability to apply or provide complex technical knowledge or advice.

  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; ability to write SQL scripts and macros



  • Life Insurance industry experience; and knowledge of the business, products and services.

  • Data management/data science skills, with working knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, Access Database, ADVANCED Excel, Oracle, Database Management.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communications and business acumen with all parties to consulting relationships
