Director & Actuary - Actuarial Governance & Controls

Role Value Proposition: 

Actuarial Governance and controls is responsible for policy setting and for SOX and non-SOX control oversight of valuation areas under Actuarial Resources, globally.  Working as trusted advisors to our business and control partner to execute key strategies to create shareholder value via a controlled environment.


The Actuary & Director  will work closely with valuation areas and control partners to develop in setting and executing policies related to reserve calculations and in ensuring compliance with company-wide-policies. This role reports directly the the AVP responsible for Actuarial Governance and controls.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Subject matter expert for various Actuarial project.
  • Liaison with Stake holders to help with potential control issues.
  • Lead Policy setting and execution related GAAP and regulatory reserve calculations.
  • Partner with Actuarial valuation management and control partners.
  • Lead t pilots on selected products/models as needed. 
  • Oversight of actuarial related databases and sites. 


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Strong understanding of Actuarial processes and associated risks.
  • Understanding of the  assumptions and methodology used in  actuarial calculations.
  • 7 years of experience within a given Actuarial functional area within the insurance /finance business segment.
  • Undergraduate degree required, or combination of education and work experience.



  • Actuarial designation or finance preparation (ex: ASA, FSA, or CFA) and modeling experience a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage across and produce results in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Sound business judgement.
