The Public Debt Investment team within MIM manages $150 billion in Investment Grade and High Yield Debt as of December 31, 2020. The team operates globally with bases in London, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Hong Kong and Santiago, Chile.

 

 

Role Value Proposition: 

 

Associate Director in MIM’s Public Credit Team, which supports the continuing growth of the team’s EMEA assets, U.S. General Account Insurance Business, assets for other MetLife Affiliated Insurance Companies and unaffiliated/third-party assets managed by MIM.

 

MIM is seeking to recruit an experienced credit analyst to cover a portfolio of EMEA names in non-financial investment grade and high yield sectors. Credit analysts at MIM specialise in many industries and cover all levels of the capital structure, including hybrid and subordinated debt.

 

This credit analyst role will be to cover the Consumer and Retail sectors. The credit analyst will report into a US-based sector team head with day-to-day oversight and coaching from the London-based regional lead.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

Conduct fundamental research and relative value analysis for the credits in coverage sectors

  • Financial modelling and analysis
  • Quarterly and annual earnings analysis and review
  • News and events analysis and review
  • Comp sheet construction, price monitoring and relative value analysis
  • Valuation work and analysis

 

Communication with companies and various sources of information

  • On-site visits and 1x1 meetings with corporate management teams
  • Communication with rating agencies
  • Communication with sell-side research analysts
  • Communication with industry experts and other resources            

 

Making clear and actionable investment recommendations across all strategies and helping to manage risk

  • Communicate with portfolio managers, traders and other research analysts to manage current portfolio positions
  • Generate and present new investment ideas
  • Actively participate in group investment discussions
  • Work with portfolio managers, traders and other analysts to manage credit exposure and risk

 

Client Interaction

  • Participate in new client prospecting and due diligence meetings
  • Participate in existing client due diligence and update meetings
  • Engage with clients with regards to information needs, reporting requirements and direct access requests

 

Credit Analyst Essential Business Experience

 

Required:

  • 5+ years of credit research experience in non-financial (corporate) public debt markets, ideally including previous lead analyst experience.
  • Solid knowledge of capital markets, public debt instruments, and bond documentation.

Preferred:

  • Previous coverage experience of the Consumer and Retail Sector is an advantage but not essential.  

 

 

Credit Analyst Essential Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • Outstanding skills in conducting in-depth fundamental credit research including financial modelling and relative value analysis.
  • Exceptional communication/presentation skills with a strong command of the English language (verbal and written skills).
  • Self-motivated, well-organised and entrepreneurial, with a strong team player mindset.
  • Ability to prioritise demands for time and undertake industry research with minimal direction.
  • Strong academic track record ideally with CFA, Accountancy, or MBA qualifications.

 

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in another main European language is an advantage but not essential.

This role is subject to the Senior Manager and Certification Regime.
