Role Value Proposition: 

The Private Placement (“PP”) group at MIM is an industry leader in private credit investments. It manages over $97 billion in private corporate debt and infrastructure debt assets and is continuing to experience significant growth.   MIM’s portfolio of private fixed income securities is one of the largest private bond portfolios globally. 


The Client Portfolio Management team sits within the broader Private Placement group and is the client-facing element of the broader Private Placement group. It is responsible for overseeing the construction and management of the Private Credit portfolios managed by MIM on behalf of its various clients, as well as answering any investment-linked queries that come in from clients. The team also contributes to client growth by preparing RFP responses and participating in client pitches and presentations.  The team consists of ten team members located in the USA and the UK.


We currently have the opportunity to add an Analyst to our London-based Client Portfolio Management team. The Analyst will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager in London, and support members of the team by assisting with the preparation of reports, analysis and information that will be provided to our existing clients, prospective clients,  MIM management, and other internal parties. Over time, we expect the Analyst to become more client-facing, and to participate in client meetings and client pitches.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The Analyst will assist in portfolio construction and monitoring, data analysis and reporting requirements for MIM’s $97 billion portfolio of private corporate debt and infrastructure debt.
  • The Analyst will attend or support meetings, providing comprehensive support to the Client Portfolio Managers.
  • Create periodic reports covering investment activity and portfolio performance.
  • Develop strong relationships and confidence with clients and colleagues. 
  • Willingness and ability to increase your knowledge of all aspects of investments, including fundamental credit analysis, quantitative credit systems, bond mathematics, accounting, regulation, as well as topical issues (corporate governance, liability / litigation risk).
  • Develop an understanding of clients’ investment guidelines. Ensures Client approvals are obtained, if needed, on all investments.
  • Assist in the solicitation and allocation of deals based on client investment criteria.
  • Where necessary, communicate with clients in a professional, accurate and timely manner; providing information and answering account questions and general inquiries Create model portfolios and assist with in-bound client queries such as RFPs, to help expand the business.
  • Participate in internal efforts to drive continuous improvement in client reporting / servicing.  Suggests methods to improve processes. 
  • Work closely with the credit analysts within the Private Placement group to deliver responses to client inquiries regarding particular investments.
  • Participate in the development of marketing and communication materials.
  • Manage various databases, reports (Production, AUM, Quarterly Portfolio Reviews, and Projections) and ad-hoc information requests from Clients and MIM management.
  • Utilise internal/external systems and models (e.g. Aladdin/Blackrock, Bloomberg, Salesforce).


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Strong academic background, with a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) degree from a leading university.
  • Qualified accountant or part qualified CFA Charterholder (willing to work towards) / candidate preferred.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Basic accounting and financial analysis background.
  • Working understanding of fixed income markets (can be through education).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, team player.
  • Very good written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and work under tight deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong teamwork-driven attitude, but also ability to work well independently.
  • The ability to one day represent MetLife in front of clients.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Fluency in business-level English.


Preferred (but not essential):

  • Knowledge of Aladdin, Salesforce and Bloomberg.
  • European language skills, ideally Germanic languages.
