Network & Firewall (Palo Alto) Engineer

In this role, the Engineer will perform the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for global networks in one or more of the following areas: voice/data, E-Commerce, LAN/WAN, remote access, multimedia and data center network technologies.

 

Architects, plans, designs, engineers, and provides Tier 3 support for the Enterprise:

Network infrastructure (voice, data, cabling, and video) across the Enterprise’s multiple business functions and locations, network security infrastructure (firewalls, VPN), voice network including IP telephony, messaging, PBXs, and integrated call center technologies, E-Commerce environment including multiple ISP’s and data centers, remote access including IPSEC and SSL VPN, multimedia technology including video conferencing, streaming video, satellite broadcasting, Telepresence, Global Data Center Engineering including all IDFs and cabling infrastructure

 

The Engineer is responsible for managing WAN and Palo Alto firewalls infrastructure. Contribute to the daily maintenance of networks and participating in upgrades, projects, disaster recovery, and network architecture activities.

Engineer will focus on providing security services, responsible to design and implement Palo Alto networks devices in the data centers, clouds and NSX platforms. Responsible for the daily management, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all Corporate Palo Alto network systems. In addition, regularly interact and work directly with all Corporate teams to troubleshoot network issues, discuss network architecture, present possible network solutions and enhancements, and implement agreed upon solutions.

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for global network planning, network architecture design, and engineering.
  • Integrates and schematically depicts network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission links and protocols into complete network configurations.
  • Responsible for network problem resolution, (Tier 3 support) utilizing structured troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • Interfaces with vendors (Cisco, ATT, Avaya, Verizon, etc.) on complex systems problems.
  • Responsible for the documentation of technical standards and interfaces in support of global network.
  • Prepare network proposals with financial impact on hardware, software, and FTEs.
  • Responsible for the daily management, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all Corporate Palo Alto network systems
  • Plan and execute changes to Firewalls using approved management tools, and in accordance with established change management processes

 

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE AND KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in all phases of network design, installation and maintenance in voice/data telecommunications global network technology.
  • Good knowledge of network hardware and software, infrastructure and design, topologies and protocols.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster strong partnerships with business customers, peer groups, and vendors.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to manage expectations of the business, team members, management and external groups.
  • Certifications such as Cisco Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in installing and supporting Palo Alto Security Appliances (minimum
  • three years)
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer 7-8 (PCNSE7-8) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of protocols BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, SPT, TRUNKS, VLANs, Port-Channel, Static routing
  • Networking topologies and protocols. Examples being MPLS, VRF, SIP, Traffic Shaping / QoS
  • Palo Alto Command line
  • Cisco command line
  • A high level of Palo Alto expertise in design, configuration, migrations, tuning and customization of features
  • Knowledge of Panorama, WildFire, Global Protect, and other Palo Alto features including and not limited to SSL decryption
  • Familiarity with Data Centre environment and hosted deployments/cloud
  • Experience with Wireshark or other protocol analyzers
