  • Position:  Senior Software Development Engineer (Greenville, South Carolina)
  • Duties: Work as a subject matter expert (SME) on complex software applications.  Involved in the design, development, installation and upgrade of software applications written in both Mainframe and distributed systems.  Deliver end to end solutions using innovative approaches to complex design problems.  Create algorithms and business rules to solve complex business problems using information technology (25%).  Lead technical design and architectural activities and ensure all technical hurdles are resolved to deliver high quality product roadmaps.  Conduct code reviews for system modifications and development.  Ensure efficient software delivery in both Waterfall and Agile software development environments for both existing and emerging technologies (25%).  Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution.  Participate in project planning, estimations, execution and implementations.  Coordinate with cross functional teams to ensure efficient project delivery.  Review application changes for correctness and adherence to standards.  Read and understand business requirements, write functional requirements, develop detailed technical designs, and build/unit/system test application code (25%).  Perform as a top-level technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of application systems analysis and programming.  Configure, update and tune applications written on HP Ingenium vendor platform.  Lead internal developers and vendor consultants in coding and development tasks.  Interact with higher management on application health status and provide recommendations on future roadmaps (25%).
  • Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Project Management or Information Technology (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience analyzing, designing, developing, and testing insurance and related software applications for both the mainframe and distributed systems or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Project Management or Information Technology and five (5) years of experience as stated above. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) -- must possess the following: designing, developing, troubleshooting and enhancing software systems on IBM Mainframe and distributed environments using COBOL, JCL, DB2 SQL, VSAM, CICS, IBM Debug, Changeman and File Manager tools, JSP, Javascript, XML, AQT, HP ALM and HP Ingenium technologies.
