The Risk Management function helps the organization to identify, aggregate, measure, report and manage risks across the company. It is led by the EMEA Chief Risk Officer with local teams operating in the branches and entities. Central teams are responsible for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM); Risk Analytics, Governance & Reporting; the local teams focus on operational and business risks. Risk Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the ERM Framework is embedded within their areas of responsibility.

 

The Risk Analyst position, which is PART TIME, 3.5 days per week is expected to effectively deliver and participate in key internal control testing. The role also includes country level relationship management responsibilities, including maintaining effective communications with senior in-country and regional leaders and preparing and presenting papers for the local Risk, Audit and Compliance Committees. The role holder will help to drive the use of data analytics across the broader EMEA risk team.

 

The Risk Analyst will be expected to help lead and drive improvements in the Risk Management Framework for MetLife Innovation Center Limited (MICL) and the newly established Irish entity of MetLife Investment Management (‘MIM’), supporting the Heads of Function in ensuring that the framework is embedded centrally and applied consistently across EMEA. This is a highly visible role with senior management, requiring the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities - MICL: 

Lead the operational risk program for MICL, including:

    • The quarterly RCSA (Risk & Control Self-Assessment)
    • Ensure action plans are identified by risk owners where controls are ineffective, or risk exceeds tolerance
    • Coordinate the Risk Committee, prepare committee packs and document the meeting minutes
    • Generate regular risk reports to promote awareness, monitoring and management of known risks
    • Deliver operational risk training, including loss event training to 1st Line of Defence stakeholders
    • Coordinate Control Validation – ensuring a 2nd Line of Defense validation of control effectiveness is performed on key controls and reports communicated to key stakeholders
    • Help to lead and drive improvements in the Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) framework
    • Effectively coordinate with the Internal Audit function on any relevant internal audits for the site

 

Key Responsibilities – MIM Operational Risk Management:

    • Ensures the Irish entity has adequate risk management framework and governance to monitor and address all significant operational risks, including IT incidents, Fraud, Complaints, Outsourcing, Dealing errors/ pricing errors or other breaches
    • Undertake annual review to assess service providers’ systems and capabilities to perform delegated functions and their operational resilience and risk management procedures.  Monitoring activities include review of SSAE18/SOC 1 or equivalent reports.
    • Monitor adequacy of IT/Cyber Security Risk, Administrative Risk (e.g. miscalculation of net asset values, static prices), and other operational risks.
    • Report to the Board on a quarterly basis any relevant issues or decisions taken during the preceding period. 
    • Review the adequacy of the controls and procedures for the Irish entity at least annually or more frequently if there is a material change to the business. 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 2+ years risk management experience with an excellent understanding of operational risk and control frameworks
  • Excellent attention to detail; ability to organise structured, well-documented and auditable risk management processes working with and delivering to multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills are essential as the role involves liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders in different functions across the Company
  • Strong judgement to challenge business decisions where appropriate
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a high-pressure environment

 

Preferred:

  • Project Management experience
  • Understanding of technology operations
  • Understanding of investment management operations
