The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of Developers, Business Systems Analysts, Testers and Project Managers with the freedom to create innovative solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife. GTO’s strategy is to deliver a differentiated customer experience and increase MetLife’s operating leverage. Our Campus in Galway is responsible for creating and delivering these solutions, working with stakeholders across Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) on a daily basis using Waterfall, DevOps and Agile frameworks and tools.


The successful candidate will act as a primary liaison between business users/BAs and Application Development & Quality Assurance teams for large and complex projects to elicit, document and manage functional requirements for our businesses across EMEA. Your focus will be to work with the in-country teams to understand their needs and to translate those needs into requirements that can be understood by our Development and QA teams. You will also support training of our business colleagues. Some travel across the EMEA region may be necessary.

Other Key Stakeholders: Business Analysts, Developer leads, Project Managers and Testing leads


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Act as the expert in the functional understanding of the business requirements and solutions within the Galway Campus
  • Lead the Business & in-country Business Analysts in the translation of business requirements into functional and technical requirements for our most complex and challenging initiatives and systems
  • Be responsible for the development of functional design documentation including use cases, user stories, functional specifications, reports and screen prototypes
  • Work with the business to identify efficiencies in their processes, designing solutions to maximize the benefits of those solutions
  • Manage user expectations, changes to requirements and project scope
  • Work with Development Organization to ensure that solution design is coded & tested (1st level of integration testing)
  • Facilitate functional requirements walkthroughs and respond to Test team ambiguity review questions
  • Review test cases
  • Support training of the proposed solutions
  • Contribute to user guides, reference manuals, training materials and code release artifacts as appropriate
  • Work with junior BSAs to develop their skills and knowledge
  • Work with the Domain Director to develop a best in class center of excellence in Business System Analysis
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required



Candidate Qualifications:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) / diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of business systems analysis experience or comparable business experience
  • Experience in the Insurance and Life Assurance industry a significant advantage
  • Significant experience in an Agile & Dev Ops environments a distinct advantage
  • Experience in SDLC with exposure to Java / J2EE or .NET environments preferred
