The Dublin office now serves as the Headquarters for MetLife’s business in Europe.  The Europe FP&A team is responsible for the consolidation and analysis of key metrics for the Europe Geography, which comprises UK, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Poland, Greece, Ukraine and Russia. The core metrics analysed include Sales, Premiums, Earnings and Operating Expenses.


This is a high profile role and you will be expected to provide valued support to Europe Senior Management, and work closely with country CFOs. You will be expected to analyse the actual and projected results against plan and present this in a way that supports Executive-level decision making. You will be directly exposed to high profile stakeholders across the business in this interactive FP&A role. You would be joining a high performing team within MetLife and you will gain a great understanding of the business as you will liaise with many different teams and departments within the company. The role itself will be a challenging and rewarding one as you will be dealing with different ad hoc requests from management each month that contribute to commercial business decisions.


Key Responsibilities: 


  • Support complex FP&A reporting processes e.g. monthly projections and annual planning cycles. This includes:
    • Collaborating closely with key stakeholders;
    • Communicating targets and key deadlines;
    • Analysing plan/projection submissions.
  • Request and consolidate the inputs required for the monthly projection cycles; reaching out to various stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Upload monthly projections and annual plans to Hyperion Planning system.
  • Analyse, interpret and explain the financial performance of Europe.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly analysis and commentary for presentation to the Board of MetLife Europe d.a.c. and MetLife Europe Insurance d.a.c.
  • Identify opportunities for standardisation and simplification of FP&A processes.
  • Participate and assist the FP&A Manager with ad-hoc financial initiatives and projects.


Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant with minimum 1-2 years PQE working in a similar FP&A/Financial Analyst type role.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to identify key trends in financial data.
  • Proven ability to work independently; you will be expected to be assertive and confident when dealing with senior management and regional teams.
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are essential.  You must be comfortable with developing Excel-based models to support business cases and planning scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral with the ability to explain key financial data to both finance and non-finance people so that issues are understood quickly and stakeholders are suitably engaged. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality outputs within tight timelines.


The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Experience of Hyperion Planning.
  • Previous insurance/multinational experience.
  • Experience of working with multi-currency general ledgers and financial planning systems.
