Corporate Ethics and Compliance (“CEC”) delivers a compliance risk framework that enables the businesses and functions to comply with applicable internal and external rules and regulations and maintain risk levels within MetLife’s risk appetite. CEC is part of Global Risk Management (GRM) and maintains a matrixed reporting line to Legal Affairs.


Within CEC, the Employee Compliance team has the responsibility for the execution and oversight of MetLife’s global employee compliance program which drives adherence to the firm’s standards for conduct, conflicts of interest management and ethical decision-making.  The Compliance Consultant, an individual contributor, is responsible for leading and managing, and the global Conflicts of Interest disclosure program, updating the Code of Business Ethics and drafting the related policies, trainings, and communications.


The role requires an effective communicator and a proactive and process-oriented thinker who can lead large scale enterprise-wide efforts. This role will provide advice and guidance to the Business and local Compliance officers across the globe and engage directly with employees at all levels of the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee MetLife’s company-wide annual Conflicts of Interest Disclosure Program from start to finish; including identifying the enrollment population, administering the program in the software, supervising the review process and designated Compliance reviewers, assisting with reporting, and creating guidance materials as needed
  • Act as a subject matter expert for conflicts of interest management
  • Manage the review process for updating MetLife’s global Code of Business Ethics, draft content as needed
  • Assist in the development of Code of Business Ethics training content
  • Partner with Compliance teams in countries that MetLife operates to address ethics related conduct risks and support employee compliance programs
  • Support strategic partnerships with key risk partners including Human Resource/Employee Relations, Legal, Governance, Special Investigations Unit
  • Research best practices and trends for enhancing ethical culture and behavior to mitigate conduct risk
  • Independently develop, implement, and manage global ethical culture-related training, communication, and behavioral change projects, for example encouraging employees to report misconduct
  • Utilize technology to support an optimal and impactful employee experience in relation to conflicts disclosures and reporting concerns.
  • Manage and maintain the global employee concern reporting tool including local customization based on location with translations in 18 languages.
  • Manage and respond to queries from the enterprise for the Global Ethics mailbox
  • Maintain and update the internal employee compliance website
  • Create, maintain, and manage team-related documentation including manuals, training materials, presentations, and reports
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture that embraces change and succeeds through both collaboration and individual accountability.
  • Manage special projects as needed

  • Knowledge of financial services a plus
  • Experience with conduct, ethics, compliance, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
