Regional Distribution has been driving Distribution Excellence for the past three years to transform and enhance Asia Distribution to the next level.   Besides its immense efforts for the transformation, Regional Distribution is also highly responsible for BAU work, monitoring sales regularly and finding and solving issues and challenges.  Regional Distribution closely works with all the distribution departments of the local countries in Asia along with other Global/ Regional departments cross-functionally.

 

Asia for MetLife is the most  important growth area with very diverse markets and landscape. We are completely re-thinking the Asia Distribuion model and need a few leaders with the right mix of experience to help implement and manage the revamped Distribution model. This team works appreciating cross functional experiences from various industries and functions (technology, product, operations, sales etc.) to work together in a non-hierarchical way.

 

 

Role Value Proposition:

 

The Director, Sales Planning and Management will be responsible for overseeing BAU sales of Asia countries.  He/she will collect numbers from all angles within the organization, monitor and analyse trends of the numbers, find issues/challenges and generate reports for relevant stakeholders for management updates and decisions.  He/she will communicate with Locals and Global/ Regionals at mutual needs. 

 

A successful candidate needs to be always open to change, good experience in sales operations, be strong with numbers and analytical skills, and open for technologies, and requires good communication skills all around.

 

This role is seen as a springboard for future MetLife leaders and sets up the individual to take on leadership roles in Sales or any other area. This role however is not for someone who is driven by ranks and hierarchies and cannot work in a flat highly evolving environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Full ownership of collecting/analysing sales numbers and generating management reporting
  • Monitor the sales metrics covering both overall sales and leading indicators related to distributions in Asia
  • Find issues and challenges and propose solutions in time
  • Present to senior executives and ensure transparency on BAU sales and initiatives
  • Work with a cross functional team across various functions and capabilities
  • Business planning, regional budget management

 

 

Key Relationships:

  • Reports to: Head of Regional Distribution
  • Direct reports/team: None
  • Key Stakeholders: CEOs and Heads of Distributions of countries, Regional President – Asia,

 

Candidate Qualifications:

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Strong record of success working in Distribution in insurance
  • Experience in sales planning, monitoring sales numbers, and reporting
  • Analytical mind on sales metrics
  • Good skills with Microsoft office tools, e.g., Excel and PowerPoint
  • Past consulting or transformational experience appreciated
  • In addition to English, fluent in either Japanese, Mandarin is a plus
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment
