Role Value Proposition:

This position, located in Charlotte, NC, will support the statutory earnings projections of Brighthouse Financial, with $200B+ of annuity and insurance business in US. It is a hand-on position in modeling financial statements, which requires extensive knowledge and skillset in handling various actuarial models, complicated Excel files and Access database. It will be heavily involved in migrating existing models into a new actuarial platform later.

 

Besides the extensive knowledge and skillset, this position requires excellent communication skill, extensive analytic experience, and good knowledge of annuity business and US statutory rules

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Perform Statutory earnings projection.
  • Work closely with Actuarial Service to accurately model Statutory reserves.
  • Perform actuarial model updates.
  • Perform experience studies to improve projections.

     

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science. 
  • 5+ yrs. relevant experience in the actuarial field. 
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • Basic knowledge in retail annuities, including variable deferred annuities, fixed deferred annuities, payout annuities, and index linked annuities.
  • Knowledge and experience in valuation on US Stat, US GAAP, and US Tax.
  • Experience in actuarial modeling systems and programing software such as MoSes, GGY-AXIS, ALFA, Pathwise, PolySystems, C++ or VBA.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office and MS Access.
  • Skillset of model development/coding and valuation/model testing is a highly preferred.
  • Self-starter who is innovative with solutions, and able to provide leadership.
  • Knowledge of statutory income statements is a plus.
