MetLife is seeking Software Development Engineers to join our growing team in Cary, North Carolina. Our teams are building and enhancing software in support of MetLife’s leading U.S. based Insurance business. This position is for enhancing one of our key strategic platforms. We are looking for great candidates who thrive in working on challenging technical problems, collaborate across teams, and bring new ideas to the table. The Software Development Engineer participates in the technical design, development and implementation of applications and may have customer and vendor interaction. You will be guided by developers experienced on the platform and will have the opportunity to serve as mentor for junior team members helping them learn and grow.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Full stack software development
  • Analyze, design, and develop code
  • Perform appropriate unit, functional, and performance tests
  • Prepare necessary code documentation, change tickets and deployment documentation



Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: ­­ 


  • 3+ years development in a distributed environment applications  
  • Experience with Java development
  • Understanding of Software design patterns
  • Development of Rest APIs
  • Familiarity with database technology (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline



Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Experience with cloud development
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Agile project methodologies
  • Experience with test-driven development
