Senior Project Lead-eDiscovery Case Manager

Role Value Proposition: 

The eDiscovery Case Manager is a Legal IT function that collaborates closely with our legal counterparts to facilitate data collections and preservations as required for legal matter discovery directed by courts or regulators.  The Case Manager participates and helps guide data collection strategy, and will liaise between legal and our ediscovery review vendors to develop a data review strategy and assure that data is loaded into the review platform in a manner that supports the strategy. The Case Manager is responsible for closely tracking the collection of data and the ultimate resting place for the data, as well as tracking meeting agendas, decision logs, and other matter support materials.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct Matter Initiation activities to establish the ediscovery strategy and specifics for data preservations and collection

  • Work with internal MetLife IT partners to locate subject data, and either preserve it in place or facilitate collection of the data.

  • Participate in data review strategy development, and upload collected data to review platform in a manner that supports the strategy.

  • Carefully track matter custodians, data they’ve identified, and the collection and review of the data.

  • Support activities necessary to produce the data to the requesting party in the manner requested, and track all matter activities through to matter close.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 5 years’ experience working in a corporate environment directly managing and executing across all phases of the EDRM (eDiscovery Reference Model) life cycle

  • 5 years technical expertise to properly search, preserve, and collect data from structured and unstructured data sources including but not limited to, network file shares, Exchange, Sharepoint, workflow, imaging, video and recording systems.

  • 2 years’ experience case/project manager, with expertise in driving efficiency and effectiveness through workflow analysis and change management.



  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or Accounting

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both legal and technical staff, and convey complex ideas both verbally and in writing

  • Knowledge of matter or case management systems

  • Knowledge messaging /communication archive systems

  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment

  • Excellent customer service skills
