MetLife is seeking a Sr. IT Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team in Cary, NC.  The team member will act as liaison between business partners, application development and testing support teams.  The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting, refining, documenting, reviewing and communicating requirements.  We need an innovative thinker to provide technical guidance concerning the business implications of application development projects, to meet project goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a primary SME liaison between business users/BAs and IT project team
  • Manage user expectations and requirements scope; Participates in fit/gap analysis of functional requirements
  • Gathers, analyzes, documents, and manages business and/or functional requirements for various initiatives
  • Facilitates meetings and provides minutes, captures action items, and monitors/tracks open items and/or work stream tasks to resolution
  • Lead functional documentation design (use cases, functional specifications, reports, screen prototypes)
  • Coordinates testing with the QA Team, while assisting with creation of required testing artifacts where applicable
  • Work closely with Project Manager, architects, developers, Test team, business users/BAs and applicable outside entities (vendors and others)
  • Contribute to user guides, reference manuals, training materials and code release artifacts as appropriate
  • Actively participates in change management activities
  • Works with Project Manager to ensure compliance to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Provides estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects and for on-going forecasting


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 


  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, demonstrated professionalism.
  • Significant Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and experience, or comparable methodologies.
  • Adept experience in creating and presenting Business and/or Functional Requirements Specification documents.
  • Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (or other design tools)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with major in business or technology related field preferred



  • Insurance or financial services industry
  • Experience with query toolset (i.e.. SQL)
  • Experience with requirements management and collaboration tools (Blueprint, iRise or equivalent)
  • Certification from the International Institute of Business Analyst (IIBA)
