The Third-Party Risk Management Program Office (TPRM PO) within Financial Management Group (FMG) at MetLife is responsible for developing and governing MetLife’s Global TPRM policy and procedures as well as managing the end to end Third-Party (Vendor) risk management process and system. 


The TPRM PO is looking to hire a Senior TPRM Consultant, reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Global Head of TPRM.  This position requires someone with experience managing the utilization and effectiveness of a global process impacting various work groups throughout a global enterprise.  The candidate will play a role in optimizing the current global process by continuous communications with various key stakeholder groups.  In the role you will be proactive in understanding the risks of supply chain, third party and outsourcing exposure and can confidently articulate views, provide challenge and risk opinion at various committees and team meetings.   The ideal candidate will be proficient at building global and regional relationships across all lines of defense and at all levels, including control groups and internal audit, whilst developing a full understanding of the third-party risks and issues that directly impact MetLife. In addition to regional responsibility, you will primarily work with the global TPRM PO to help build out the third party and outsourcing risk capability within MetLife which includes understanding and translating macro risks and those highlighted by third party incidents into control measures throughout our process. 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Partner with other TPRM PO associates, risk partners, regions, and Lines of Business (LOB) to ensure all third parties are risk assessed according to MetLife’s standards within expected timelines
  • Engage with MetLife LOBs, risk partners and technical process owners to facilitate the risk assessment process for third party relationships and the services they will be providing to MetLife
  • Functions as a MetLife TPRM PO subject matter expert (SME) and trains / supports LOBs & risk partners through one-on-one training and drafting training guidelines when necessary
  • Assesses and improves current TPRM risk assessment processes to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Develops process documentation for completing third party reviews and assessments as needed
  • Leverages MetLife’s TPRM platform (ServiceNow) to govern the review of third parties
  • Defines and or delivers appropriate TPRM PO metrics, analytics, and scorecards through live demonstrations, written presentations, or training material
  • Assists in the development of key metrics and reporting across functions that give transparency into the third party eco system and operational effectiveness of the TPRM process
  • Organizes and leads TPRM PO meetings related to third party assessments as needed: prepares meeting agendas, sends out meeting minutes and coordinates follow up activities as appropriate
  • Interacts in both oral and written communications with all levels of technical and executive staff in matters related to TPRM
  • Work with Internal Audit and outside consultants as appropriate on required assessments and audits
  • Mentor and coordinate tasks of more junior TPRM associates as needed.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 5-7 years of work experience, preferably associated with third party risk management or vendor management 



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an analytical discipline
  • Comprehensive understanding and or experience of Third-Party (Supplier / Vendor) Risk Management process
  • Working knowledge of a Third-Party (Supplier / Vendor) risk management program / tool 
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Good project management skills
