Production Management Consultant 
Command Center – Squad Lead

 

Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife’s Risk, Resilience, & Improvement team is looking for an experienced individual to join its Command Center Operations team. As a senior team member and leader, you would be responsible for a squad of 4-6 technical associates that is dedicated to supporting production issues for a specific business journey. We are looking for a self-motivated individual that will bring energy, passion, and intellectual curiosity to our team! Someone who can convey a diagnostic and problem-solving mindset, who enjoys building relationships, and can manage responsibilities across matrixed and agile teams. This is a dynamic role with an opportunity to be in the forefront of Metlife’s Agile transformation journey and provide superior service and support for some of our largest customers.

 

How you will make an impact:

  • You are an analytical and conceptual thinking leader, who will focus on problem-solving, communication, and putting our customer at the forefront of everyday.
  • You will work within Agile Delivery Model to collaborate with business and development teams on technical resolutions and direction. Using metrics and Kanban methodology to manage the flow of work.
  • You will create a shared understanding and confidence throughout your squad, while resolving reported issues and providing the team with a clear view of their priorities.
  • You will own and provide visibility into incident triage progress, impact to the business, timelines for resolution, and root cause analysis to Business and IT Partners.
  • You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, Institutions, and cross-functional teams to solve critical business problems, propose operational efficiencies and innovative approaches.
  • You will partner with the Product Owner to prioritize a backlog of items that will improve the stability and efficiency of the production applications, and process improvements to reduce production incidents.
  • You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate, and experiment – learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your team, your own technical expertise, and upskill knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.
  • You will leverage metrics and monitoring tools to identify trends and prevent customer impact.

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in related technical track, MBA or other advanced degree.
  • 3-5 years IT experience, including 2+ years in applications development, production support, technology best practices, or monitoring and diagnostic support
  • 1-3 years of ITSM/ITIL framework experience
  • Must be a mature self-starter able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
  • Must manage competing priorities under deadlines while maintaining necessary processes, controls and procedures that ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide an acute attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders in a highly matrixed environment
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation through multiple levels of leadership

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with remote or offshore teams
  • Experience/knowledge of DevOps/Lean, Agile Delivery Model in SAFe Framework, along with tooling like Azure DevOps
  • Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools - Service Now, AppD and Splunk
  • Knowledge of container and orchestration technologies like AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).
  • PMI Certification, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, DevOps, Agile
  • Background with End user facing applications a plus
