This Engineer will use their unique experience in Data Center, Cloud, Virtualization and Security technologies to continue the transformation of MetLife’s Data Center Infrastructure into a Software Defined, Service Oriented business resource. We’re looking for a confident technical leader who has accomplished much and intends to do more; a teammate who is as passionate about learning as they are leading.  The ideal Engineer will have a deep background in traditional networking technologies, as well as, experience designing and operating Cisco ACI networks.


This Engineer will rapidly learn our Networking, Virtualization and Compute environments; aligning with other team members who are managing major projects in all these spaces.  While supporting these efforts, this Engineer will work to define and implement both tactical and strategic Automation capabilities that will enhance the visibility and efficiency of our Converged Infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead efforts to leverage MetLife’s Cisco ACI networks; expanding MetLife’s SDN strategy for physical workloads within Metlife’s US Data Centers.
  • Act as technical authority concerning Data Center network technologies, project design and project delivery.
  • Engage networking vendors regarding new product evaluations, service engagements, case escalations and the typical life cycle concerns (Field Notices/LDoS/EoL/Support) for network components and design.
  • Develop to become a knowledgeable and trusted resource on all technology areas within the Converged Infrastructure portfolio.
  • Assist team members who develop automation tools by providing infrastructure technology guidance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Network Security, Branch and Core Routing teams.
  • Serve as a tier lll escalation resource for Data Center networking troubleshooting.
  • Represent infrastructure changes accurately within the MetLife Change Management process
  • Deliver thoroughly planned and executed changes within the environment without application impact.
  • Continuously identify, review, and recommend potential opportunities for enterprise cost-savings, service quality improvement, and operational efficiency.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline
  • 10+ years of work experience in Data Center networking technologies including 3+ years of experience with Cisco ACI.
  • 5+ years’ experience with at least 2 of the following Converged technology domain areas:
  • Virtualization, Network Security, Load Balancing, Cloud, Automation, x86 Compute
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and written/oral communication skills



  • Experience using Python for Network Automation
  • Product experience with Cisco Nexus 9k, 7k, 5k, 2k and Catalyst 6500 platforms
  • Cisco Certifications – CCIE/CCNP
