Lead Capacity and Performance Analyst

Role Value Proposition: 

As part of the Capacity and Performance Operations team, the Lead Capacity and Performance Analyst will use infrastructure and application performance data to identify operational risks, optimize resource usage, and reduce costs. This role will champion capacity management best practices, processes improvements, and modernized reports using data visualization.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for data collection, evaluation, analysis, and benchmark testing associated with infrastructure capacity and performance across multiple platforms, environments, and applications
  • Lead investigations and root cause analyses for escalated capacity problems, performance issues, and application outages
  • Responsible for the creation of detailed application/system performance analyses, executive summaries, project plans, and other related documentation. Must be able to translate data analyses into solutions that reduce risk and optimize resource usage while meeting business demands
  • Proactively evaluate infrastructure bottlenecks and capacity constraints; recommend optimization strategies
  • Provide development teams with guidance and direction to optimize application and database performance
  • Proficiency in Excel or data analysis tool like PowerBI is integral for success in this role. Database query and scripting skills (Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc.) are a plus


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • 5+ years of experience analyzing capacity and performance data
  • 5+ years’ experience administering and supporting one or more popular operating systems such as Linux, Windows, AIX, Solaris, etc.
  • 4+ years knowledge of VMware, Cisco UCS, EMC storage, IBM Power hardware, and converged infrastructure
  • 2-4 years usage of analytical and research skills required to compile, analyze, and present relevant data in support of performance improvements and capacity initiatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of structural programming concepts. Background in scripting and automation a plus



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or at least 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with performance tools such as BMC TrueSight, Turbonomics, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.
  • Experience with data query and visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Background in database administration, scripting and automation, or report development desired
