MetLife is seeking a Lead Business Systems Analyst within IT to join our ALM Cash Flow Engineering Team.  The team member will act as liaison between business partners, application development and testing support teams.  The Lead Business Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting, refining, documenting, reviewing and communicating requirements.  Seeking an innovative thinker to provide technical guidance concerning the business implications of application development projects, to meet project goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a primary SME liaison between business users/BAs and IT project team
  • Manage user expectations and requirements scope; Participates in fit/gap analysis of functional requirements- gathers, analyzes, documents, and manages business and/or functional requirements
  • Facilitates design meetings and provides minutes, captures action items, and monitors/tracks open items and/or work stream tasks to resolution & lead functional documentation design (use cases, reports, data mapping, data transformations)
  • Coordinates testing with the QA Team, while assisting with creation of required testing artifacts where applicable
  • Work closely with Project Manager, architects, Tech Leads, Test team, business users/BAs and applicable outside entities (vendors and others)
  • Works with Project Manager to ensure compliance to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & provides estimates for BSA work efforts on new projects and incorporates partner estimates to provide the Business with an all-inclusive cost
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously
  • Leads other BSA’s in best practices and is ultimately responsible for their work
  • Develop solution strategies with a focus on use case and code reusability to maximize project saves



Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 4+ years Use case / Functional Design Creation & Review, Technical Design Review, and Test Case review
  • 2+ years producing High Level Solution Design Flow Diagrams
  • 2+ years working with XML, Database, or .CSV Data formats
  • Experience in Scrum methodology
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with major in business or technology related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, demonstrated professionalism.


  • Insurance industry experience
  • Significant Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and experience, or comparable methodologies
  • Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (or other design tools), Project)
  • Advanced Microsoft Word features
