Position: VP of Sales: Third Party Relationship Management and Data Exchange Strategy

 

Location/Work Arrangement: Hybrid located near a MetLife office

 

This role is responsible for full strategic ownership and management of key 3rd party relationships (benefit admin firm, HCM firm, etc) for MetLife Group Benefits.  In addition to driving new sales through these relationships (as the lead salesperson and designer of the overall strategy for group benefits), this role will have responsibility for our overall Data Exchange strategy and execution for key business processes between MetLife and the marketplace.  This sales officer role will lead an organization of sales relationship managers, our 3rd party activation team, as well as business ownership for the AGILE team strategy, design and management for our Data Exchange program. 

 

The role requires extensive knowledge of MetLife’s product portfolio and key distribution opportunities to build strong relationships and help ensure that MetLife is the provider of choice with a co-developed strong technology roadmap to drive efficiencies and growth in our products.  Strategic business planning and negotiation skills are required to drive accelerated growth with key distribution partners while demonstrating the strength and value of MetLife products.  In addition, this role must have deep understanding of the end-to-end group benefits ecosystem and how to impact business processes, improve the customer experience, while maintaining costs through enhanced technology investments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own distinctive MetLife business plan to reflect partner strategy to drive execution cross functionality:
    • Dependencies with underwriting, product, service, technology, legal
    • Tight coordination with NA & Regional Sales & Strategy
    • Alignment & commitment with each firm
    • Quarterly benchmarks, reporting and action planning
    • Develop National business plans that can be executed and driven at the local level
    • Collaborate with key partners on the product roadmap
  • Drive 2nd sale growth through enhanced integration and support of decision, advice, and guidance tools for each Managed Firm’ enrollment platform.
  • Develop and drive the execution of the vision and full accountability of shared goals for the 3rd party relationship with each Managed Firm
  • Define and set the rules for the go-to-market strategy with each Managed Firm
  • Develop and manage the service model for supporting partner onboarding and ongoing servicing
  • Drive experience design leveraging partner integration capabilities and feature development
  • Own accountability for data sharing strategy and business outcomes
  • Influence senior leaders to ensure a holistic approach for prioritization, collaboration, transparency, and alignment of initiatives impacting key partners
  • Proactively creates opportunities to work across both internal and external boundaries to develop innovative solutions to meet partner’s need
  • Manage a team of 8-10 Direct Reports
  • Manage a team of indirect Reports across business and technology.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience within the Group Insurance industry and deep understanding of the market and the overall employee benefits ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of key business processes within Group Benefits (eligibility, enrollment, absence management, billing, statement of health (evidence of insurability), etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to understand marketplace trends and leverage to inform strategy 
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a strength in gaining alignment with key parties throughout the MetLife enterprise.
  • Exemplary negotiation skills 
  • Strong financial acumen 
  • Ability to direct and motivate team of both internal and market-facing individuals
  • Ability to closely align and partner with Regional Business, National Accounts, Product and Technology & Operations leadership 
  • Appropriate state licenses including Life, Accident & Health must be obtained (MetLife will support attainment of licenses)

The wage range for applicants for this position is $213,000 to $239,500. This role is also eligible for annual stock-based long-term incentives and is also eligible for incentive compensation under the sales plan for the position. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
