Role Value Proposition

This position is accountable for creating, monitoring and evolving business strategies to drive profitable growth across Regional Market in support of our aggressive growth plans. The role will identify and execute solutions that highlight our strengths and enable us to better compete in market by delivering targeted and differentiated solutions that are developed to meet the needs of our customers. In addition to implementing new strategies from our strategic roadmap, this position will be responsible for understanding/analyzing how our solutions are working in market, recommending strategies where we have gaps and leveraging an understanding of the market/competition to drive strategic growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Accountable for creating and managing market-based strategies and initiatives that drive significant growth for MetLife in Regional Market, including:

 

  • Develop and maintain business strategies and drive execution across the organization, including business case build and sign-off, to achieve the agreed upon financial goals;
  • Deliver in-market solutions to impact key drivers including quotes, closing ratio, persistency, products per sale/customer and penetration of voluntary and high-value products;
  • Activate our value proposition in market by partnering with marketing, broker strategy and other cross-functional teams to deliver on solutions that resonate with the needs of our brokers and employers;
  • Develop, manage and lead detailed project plans from initial identification through execution while providing updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments and progress;
  • Partner with distribution and cross-functional teams to develop and deliver on solutions that enable us to better compete locally;
  • Work closely with key partners such as distribution, underwriting, finance, marketing and service / operations to understand performance of solutions and where to take corrective action;
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the market (trends, needs, competitors, intermediaries, employers, employees, etc.), working closely with distribution, competitive intelligence and product areas. Ensure that this knowledge is reflected in our strategies and investments and communicated across the enterprise as necessary;
  • Actively participate in talent development activities, including support of training and mentoring programs, internship programs, etc.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Advanced working knowledge of group insurance market, distribution models and capabilities – including both core and voluntary coverages
  • High degree of business and financial acumen as well as sound decision-making
  • Experience creating strategies and business cases and in assessing market and business opportunities that have created results Successful track record of driving large scale change that created expected results
  • Ability to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan and drive items from initial identification through execution Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Experience and propensity to use data to drive decisions and competitive insights
  • Able to work effectively with Leadership internally and externally
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of business drivers and financial performance measures
  • Knowledge / experience with supported products, market, industry, and business channels
  • Ability to translate market trends into creative solutions and positioning
  • Flexible and able to multi-task within a fast-moving environment
  • Drives toward clarity and solutions with demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and driving alignment in partnering organizations
  • Holistic systems thinking with the ability to perform detailed work as well as high level work Exceptional ability to navigate complexity and articulate priorities throughout stages of a project Takes a customer-centric focus to ensure an optimal end to end experience for our customers
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively and collaboratively within a matrix organization and with employees at all levels Strong problem-solving, process and project management skills (very detail and analytic oriented)
  • Intimate knowledge of market and competitors in 2– 4,999 employer space in group benefits industry

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in stragegy development or product development.   
  • High degree of business and financial acumen as well as sound decision-making
  • Experience creating strategies and business cases and in assessing market and business opportunities that have created results
  • Successful track record of driving large scale change that created expected results
  • Ability to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan and drive items from initial identification through execution
