Role Value Proposition: 

This position will be a member of the product actuarial team responsible for a multi-team support for all mathematical and other necessary functions to obtain approvals from state insurance departments for LTC rate increase filings and implementing these rate increases.  This will involve all necessary support related to the preparation of new rates and all support for responding to related state insurance department objections and customer complaints.

 

This position works closely with the LTC finance team, Operations and Valuation teams to implement approved rate increases and ensure all design changes are proper and executed as needed.

 

This is a full-time permanent position offering professional autonomy and work life balance.  Individuals can either WORK FROM HOME/REMOTE two to three days a week, or in the office and prefer that environment.  In addition, this permanent position will not be part of MetLife’s Actuarial Development Program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble the premium rate sheets necessary to submit with the LTC rate increase filings.
  • Assist team members effectively to all fast response to state objections regarding premium rate sheets, premium calculations, as well as providing any requested rate comparisons.
  • Provide financial support to LTC product management and Compliance for customer complaints related to rate increases.
  • Support the LTC business with premium calculations, non-forfeiture benefit calculations, and other related benefit coverage downgrade issues.
  • This role will work with partners at different levels throughout the organization to share information and knowledge.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics,  or related discipline.
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise.
  • Working knowledge of Excel is required.
  • Motivated team player who is results oriented.

 

Preferred:

  • Passed actuarial exams are strongly desired; however this is not a requirement for the position.
  • Working knowledge of Access and SQL is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills.
