The RIS business (Retirement Income Solutions), one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, offers a wide variety of products including pension risk transfer products, GIC/Funding agreements, stable value products, structured settlements, Institutional Income Annuities and PRB & SBR products.


The Role:

The role will drive data management throughout RIS. In partnership with each of the RIS businesses and key partners throughout MetLife, using various techniques including the use of advanced analytical techniques, this leader will focus on driving the quality of key data, improving the way the business accesses it’s data, and adhering to enterprise / regulatory standards for data management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive improvements to data quality
  • Develop view of critical data and thresholds for quality to inform timing / prioritization of improvements
  • Execute on data quality improvement solutions leveraging technical capabilities and partnership with business / Operations teams
  • Assist in establishing data quality measurement / management standards for UKL business.
  • Create plan for measuring / managing data quality throughout remaining RIS businesses.
  • Develop dashboard to perform ongoing measurement / monitoring of data quality as compared to thresholds to create pipeline of future quality improvement actions.
  • Develop protocols and standards to make pulling data from systems more reliable, auditable and efficient.
  • Build and iterate on data intake form with standard outputs and data warehouse.
  • Comply with enterprise and regulatory standards for information management.
  • Identify retention requirements for each line of business and work with business / technology / Operations teams to implement these requirements
  • Manage the data governance and information lifecycle management efforts throughout RIS
  • Build a culture of awareness around best practices and enterprise standards for data governance and information management throughout RIS.

  • Reports to: SVP RIS Customer Solutions and Strategic Operations
  • Direct reports/team: One direct report to be hired initially (in 2022)
  • Key Stakeholders: Businesses within RIS, Operations, Technology, MetLife enterprise Data team, Finance, Legal, Risk Management


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Background in data governance
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Ability to manage a team, including recommending and implementing organizational design changes to achieve desired business objectives
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • BA or BS required
