The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of technical professionals with the freedom to create innovative solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife. GTO’s strategy is to deliver a differentiated customer experience and increase MetLife’s operating leverage. Our new Campus in Galway will be responsible for creating and delivering these solutions working with stakeholders across Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) on a daily basis using Waterfall, Agile and DevOps frameworks and tools.

 

DEPARTMENT: EMEA - Technology & Operations, Global Technology Campus Galway (GTCG)

 

THE ROLE: This is a senior role responsible for managing a team of solution designers whose function will be to ensure that all applications within the remit of GTCG are on a roadmap to the MetLife Global Reference Architecture. The role holder will manage and plan the work of solution design resources and their respective activities providing guidance and direction where needed. They will have regular interaction with the EMEA Chief Architect working with them to ensure that the GTCG teams remain aligned to any new, existing or evolving architectural standards.

Reports to: Director, IT Applications

Direct Reports: 0-5 Solution Designers & Data Analysts

Other Key Stakeholders: GTC Business Systems Analysts , GTCG Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture and Plan Organisation Teams (BAs/ PMs)

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the migration of all existing application solutions to the MetLife Global Reference Architecture and ensure that all new solutions fit in to those standards
  • Manages solution design workload priorities and direct solution designers to ensure integrity of assigned domain or solution architecture
  • Lead in designing, specifying and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance
  • Ensures alignment of domain, solution, or enterprise program component with business strategies, capabilities or project requirements

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Level 8) or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience, with advanced degree preferred
  • 8 + years broad IT experience with minimum 5 years of related architecture experience
  • 3+ years in a supervisory, management or other leadership role including experience leading a matrixed team
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple architecture disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience and/or trained in one or more formal architecture frameworks such as FEAF, TOGAF, or Zachman
  • Experienced in complex project planning and execution an advantage
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple large, complex projects an advantage
