The EMEA Software Engineering teams within Global Technology Campus Galway (GTCG) are a diverse team of Developers, Business Systems Analysts and Quality Assurance (QA) analysts charged with creating solutions to address core business challenges within MetLife. Our strategy is to deliver a differentiated customer experience and increase MetLife’s operating leverage. Our Campus is responsible for creating and delivering these solutions, working with stakeholders across Europe and the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) using Waterfall and Agile frameworks and tools.

 

MetLife is part of the API economy and is using APIs internally and externally to provide a state-of-the-art digital experience to serve our customers. This position will be responsible for analysing business requirements/pain points, analysing and orchestrating data with the aim of devising/enhancing technological solutions to business needs.

 

Key Relationships:

Reports to: Software Development Manager

Direct Reports: 0

Other Key Stakeholders: In-country business analysts and users, GTCG BSAs, developer leads, QA leads, architects and project managers

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate in all phases of the SDLC
  • Collaborate with in-country business analysts, GTCG BSAs and users in the elicitation and translation of business requirements into functional and technical requirements
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate requirements workshops
  • Review business requirements documents (BRD), user stories, and other requirements documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Facilitate functional requirements walkthroughs
  • Create functional requirements in form of use cases, functional requirements documents (FRD) and user stories
  • Swagger creation
  • Request/response mapping documents
  • Support QA teams by reviewing test cases
  • Manage relationships and expectations with key project stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and communicate complicated business concepts

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) / diploma in computer science, information systems or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years’ experience in Information technology
  • 3 years’ experience in requirements definition and analysis (writing use cases, data mapping artifacts, creating swaggers, etc.)
  • 3 years’ experience in an Agile & Dev Ops Methodology environment
  • Experience working with Middleware / Enterprise Service Bus platforms namely IBM Integration Bus is an advantage
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work on multiple medium to small scale projects in parallel
  • Demonstrate analytical and In-depth problem-solving skills

                                                   

Preferred:

  • Experience in the Insurance industry is a significant advantage
  • Strong Microsoft Excel background
  • Intermediate SQL familiarity
  • Experience working with Agile Project Management tools namely Jira and Azure DevOps
  • Experience working with data visualisation tools namely BluePrint
  • BSA certification
