The Underwriting Manager will provide underwriting and pricing guidance for new business and renewal teams of expatriate benefits products including medical, life, LTD and/or dental.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manages the team responsible for analyses of new business RFP process and renewal underwriting of expatriate products.
  • Manages team responsible for working on cases of various sizes and complexity
  • Manages team ensuring effective interactions with internal and external customers
  • Provides pricing and plan design authority for cases with a total annualized premium of $2,000,000 or less.
  • Works with sales offices to ensure cases are rated appropriately prior to approval. Guides and Assists Underwriters with new business quotes by analyzing financial and plan design information to decide whether to accept risk and at what premium level.
  • Guides and assists Underwriters with reviewing current plan’s premium history, claims history, and company financial condition for renewals to determine appropriate renewal action.
  • Guides Underwriters with pricing and plan changes and responds to broker and customer inquiries.
  • Audits and ensures team updates databases with quote and sales information to track results.
  • Provides consultative services to sales producers, brokers, and/or customers regarding group insurance plans.
  • Manages the team to ensure they meet or exceed specified metrics for completion of new business quotes and renewals.
  • Participates in project work and with other teams to develop or improve underwriting processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 8+ years of relevant business experience, with 2-4+ years of experience in a people leadership/project management capacity
  • Ability to effectively manage across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • High level of adaptability and capability working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment



  • Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with expatriate benefits products including medical, life, LTD and/or dental is a plus
  • Exposure to Salesforce from a reporting perspective is a plus
