Opportunity

The MetLife Worldwide Benefits Sales Training program helps to prepare you for a role as either a global Sales Executive or global Account Manager within MetLife’s Global Employee Benefits organization. The Sales Executive position is a business-to-business sales role and the Account Manager role is a business-to-customer client management role. Your customers will be global employer groups or other organizations seeking to provide global benefits packages to their globally mobile employees. In this role, you will partner closely with brokers and consultants to provide the right benefit solutions that meet the needs of the customer, while learning about the global employee benefits landscape.

 

As a Sales Trainee, you will complete a 12-month training program which includes a combination of on-the-job and structured classroom learning that’s focused on building an understanding of risk management, the global employee benefits industry and MetLife’s global group benefit offerings, along with professional selling skills. Furthermore, you will participate and grow with a team of individuals dedicated to your individual learning, including your manager, mentors and business leadership.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Complete and participate in all required MetLife learning and training initiatives – including successful completion of the Sales Academy Program.
  • Work effectively with seasoned sales and account management professionals and/or mentors to better understand the various global products and services offered by MetLife.  This will involve meetings with customers, brokers, and consultants.
  • Develop an understanding of  the MetLife Worldwide group global products and services – including Medical, Disability, Dental, Life, and Business Travel related offerings.
  • Learn the basic financial drivers and operational methodologies related to the MetLife Worldwide global business and its applicable product lines.
  • Build sales competencies – including communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
  • Support the sales and account management by meeting with brokers or customers, conducting enrollment meetings or benefit fairs, providing post-sale service and interaction with clients, and assisting senior sales executives and account managers with their territories.
  • Generate reports to track/report activities, progress, and strategies.
  • Perform other related duties, or be involved with other required global strategic sales projects, as assigned and required.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Manage expenses according to company guidelines.

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Ability to understand core selling skills to respond to leads and deliver client-centric global solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, sound business judgment, computer skills, ability to lead and influence, analytical, relationship building and organizational skills
  • The ability to obtain {or possess} Life, Accident and Health licenses is required.  Trainee must remain up-to-date with continuing education requirements to maintain licensing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Global/Expatriate benefits sales and/or service experience, and knowledge of international cultures is a major asset.
  • Fluency in multiple languages would be a plus.
