We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to work with an Agile team to develop and deliver products for MetLife Investments Digital and Data Platform. The ideal candidate will possess prior technical expertise in insurance/financial industry, strong development, communication, and collaboration skills, also have hands-on experience in developing complex financial systems projects using cloud and on-prem technologies with ability to influence people across the organization.

  • Investments Data Lake buildout
  • Buildout of service oriented and event driven architecture that enables governed and validated data provision for consumers out of lake
  • Intuitive UI for adjustments of data in lake and process orchestration

  • Investments is a high visibility LOB building the future state Investments data platform that enables the business with informed investments decisions and impacts the company’s bottom line

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical and development assistance with a project team that is building foundational solutions using Azure Cloud platform for MetLife Investments functions.
  • Collaborates with the product line architect to review solution design and roadmap.
  • Enable product delivery through hands-on development and in collaboration with developers, analysts and business to build fully vetted products that ensures that new capabilities are implemented according to enterprise standards.
  • Engages in project planning activities in an Agile SCRUM environment to complete planned activities and meet milestones within a comprehensive project plan to ensure project is on time and budget.
  • Works closely with team to develop detailed requirements, technical and functional documentation

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experienced engineer who will be engaged in analysis and development of all tiers of the system utilizing .Net, C#, Angular, WebAPI and SQL in Azure
  • Knowledge of Azure data lake, data factory, COSMOS DB, Databricks, Python a big plus
  • Full stack engineer with ability to write object-oriented, self-documenting, maintainable code
  • Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Experience in Data Platform Design Patterns and Restful services architectural design and development
  • Agile & Waterfall methodologies
     

Preferred:

  • Experience with Agile SCRUM and Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge in Azure PaaS with components like Azure Functions, LogicApps, ASE, ServiceBus, Event Hub, SQL PaaS, Synapse, KeyVault etc.
  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous testing
  • Experience around information risk, security, PII, SOX and legal compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Extensive experience working with offshore teams and/or vendors
  • Master's degree a plus
  • Microsoft certification in Azure big plus
  • 1+ year of Finance and/or asset management business domain experience
