Institutional Client Group:
The Institutional Client Group (ICG) is responsible for driving the firm’s strategy and business development efforts with institutional investors and consultants, globally. Within ICG, the Global Insurance and Banking group is responsible for oversight and management of MIM’s insurance general account business, including life, property & casualty, multi-line and health insurers located in the Americas, EMEA and Asia.
The Role:
Senior IRM will be a client facing role and will involve working with MIM’s global insurance partners to manage and develop relationships with MIM’s insurance clients. The role requires collaboration with investment professionals throughout our investment organization, and other key stakeholders such as MIM’s Insurance Asset Management team, to provide proactive, focused client service to insurance clients that spans all aspects of the business we provide to those clients. The Senior IRM will be a key point person for clients. He/she will also develop new business leads and assist with cross-selling MIM’s capabilities to clients and prospects.

- Key Stakeholders: Global Head of Institutional Client Business, Global Head of Insurance Asset Management, Global Head Public Fixed Income, Global Private Fixed Income & Alternatives, Global Head of Real Estate & Agricultural Investments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Key relationship point-person and primary client contact for large strategic insurance clients (reporting into the Head of Insurance Relationship Management)
- Understand and anticipate client needs and develop engagement and retention strategies, resulting in increased client satisfaction
- Support building the business and cross selling MIM’s capabilities with existing relationships
- Partner with other departments to ensure the clients’ ongoing needs are being met, requests are being addressed on a timely basis, and the team is thinking and acting proactively
- Effective quarterbacking of inquiries, including overseeing completion of client requests and questionnaires
- Coordination of, and key participant in client meetings, including but not limited to, portfolio reviews, IC meetings, Strategic Asset Allocation and Portfolio Optimization discussions, due diligence meetings and Strategic Client Annual Reviews (coordinating and leading all aspects of the meeting)
- Work closely with PMs to understand clients’ investment objectives
- Partner with client service, as needed, for timely legal documentation amendments for SMAs, i.e., upsizes, guideline changes, IMA updates
- Oversee delivery of key updates to clients (i.e., personnel changes, market issues, systems/operational updates, etc.); ensure we are notifying clients quickly and appropriately
- Deliver thought leadership and adopt a consultative engagement approach with clients
- Develop strong, effective, and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders including investment teams and operations
- Deliver client feedback to internal stakeholders including investment teams, marketing, etc., and actively contribute to new initiatives that will improve the overall client experience
- Escalation point for all issues related to assigned clients
- Maintain an accurate and current record of all activity in CRM
Candidate Qualifications:
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- 10+ years of institutional asset management experience, including 5+ years specifically focused on insurance client segment
- Deep understanding of the institutional investing landscape, including clients, competitors, and consultants
- Expertise in investment products and solutions, preferably public and private fixed income, and real estate
- Proven ability to develop and sustain trusted relationships with C-Suite level investment professionals and consultants.
- Understanding of service & operational aspects of insurance client service
- Demonstrated success attracting, retaining, and growing AUM
- Strong team player, with a proven ability to partner internally to ensure excellent client management
- Organizational intelligence and ability to navigate a large, matrixed, global organization
