Key Responsibilities:  

This role within the Investments Finance team is principally responsible for Quarterly Financial Reporting and Controls for Investments, & related analyses and attribution of results.  The team delivers results and analysis to the Chief Investment Officer, Chief Financial Officer as well as other senior level officers on a regular basis.  Team members have extensive interaction with Portfolio Managers and Asset Sector Specialists in the Investments Group as well as other departments across the Enterprise.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Ability to understand and analyze investments financial results with a strong accounting background of the classification and treatment of investment asset classes
  • Effectively lead and have in-depth communication with both accounting & non-financial teams, understanding the geographical impacts of various accounting actions across asset sectors and their respective impacts on the financial statements
  • Prepare quarterly financial reporting analyses and corresponding slide presentations for senior management
  • Realized gain/loss financial reporting.  Ability to both compile detailed reports using various sources, as well as preparing supporting schedules & summarizing key drivers for senior management talking points. 
  • Project net income components monthly
  • Prepare quarterly Analyst book schedules and supporting analysis for earnings call preparation
  • Prepare the requisite documentation & analysis to support the oversight of controls related to Fair Value Measurement, working closely with Portfolio Managers and Asset Sector Specialists to assess the control environment
  • Strong proficiency in financial software applications (Excel) for attribution & analysis.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills for preparing quarterly senior management presentations.
  • Analyze data and process flows to improve financial reporting accuracy.
  • Present and communicate financial data concisely and clearly with conclusions and recommendations in a manner that both financial & non-financial audiences can understand.
  • Ad-hoc requests.

 

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting/Investments/background.
  • 8+ years of experience working with Excel in a corporate setting, including the use of pivot tables and v-lookups.
  • 5+ years of experience with financial reporting within Investments Finance highly desired
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Business Intelligence Tools, including advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Investment industry experience.

 

Preferred:

  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting or applicable field of expertise; MBA, CFA, MS in Economics, Mathematics, or Financial Engineering or Actuarial designations preferred.
  • CPA highly desired; MBA/CFA preferred
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance industry, GAAP, & Statutory accounting a plus
  • General knowledge of financial disclosures (Quarterly Financial Supplement, 10-Q & 10-K filings).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Essbase, Hyperion a plus.
