The Senior Data Governance Specialist position is responsible for delivering best-in-class methodologies for the Global Data Governance Program. This position is responsible for performing data workflow analysis and for creating Data Governance Policies, Procedures, and Standards. This position will create and maintain other supporting data governance documentation, including training materials, meeting agenda, announcements, communications plan, and meeting minutes. The individual in this position will actively participate and play a key role in operationalizing the Data Governance Office by working on data governance related project tasks and providing subject-matter expertise. As a member of the Data Governance Office, the Sr. Data Governance Specialist will work closely with investment data stakeholders to identify and solve Data Governance issues.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Creates project plans, communications plans, and other required project documentation.
  • Creates Data Governance Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Procedures and other related artifacts; Coordinates the implementation of Data Quality and Profiling tools.
  • Coordinates the resolution of complex data governance issues, working closely with subject- matter experts, sector specialists, IT partners and other stakeholders; Establishes ongoing communication with data governance stakeholders, communicating work progress and outcome.
  • Resolves Data Governance project issues, working with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Custodians and Consumers globally; Performs Data Governance reviews to identify gaps and to enforce Data Governance policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  • Supports and assists the Data Domain stakeholders in creating Data Governance deliverables; Monitor’s data governance metrics and SLAs, assuring required KPI levels are within established thresholds; escalates systemic and procedural issues accordingly.
  • Creates announcements, training materials and provides Data Governance training to stakeholders.
  • Works closely with the Data Governance Operations lead on a regular basis to align project deliverables to the Operations.
  • Actively champion Data Governance best practices.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 3 years of experience in writing corporate policies, procedures, and standards along with related training materials.
  • 3 years of experience with MS PowerPoint and Visio developing high-quality visual aid materials for senior management presentations.
  • 3 years of experience in implementing Data Governance programs.  
  • 3 years of experience with data management processes, functions, and methodologies.
  • 3 years of analytical skills and problem-solving skills experience.



  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Communications, Accounting, Computer Science or Finance as well as any other related field of expertise.
  • Proven record of excellent business writing skills.
  • Relevant experience in Financial Services industry, Capital Markets, and Investment Products.
  • Ability to work independently and to lead meetings, initiatives, and projects.
  • Experience in system implementations and process re-engineering initiatives to improve asset origination and asset management workflows.
  • Knowledge of the project and system development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate superior verbal communication and relationship building skills.
