Role Value Proposition: 

The Global Sales Practice Unit is responsible for effective implementation and maintenance of global compliance programs for MetLife businesses relating to Sales Practices. This individual contributor position is responsible for carrying out the Sales Practice Unit’s global obligations with respect to relevant company policies and compliance with applicable international and local laws/regulations. Focus will be on quality of Sales Practice Compliance risk assessments, identification of data analysis and surveillance opportunities, consistency of compliance risk oversight and metric reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and maintain global policies, supporting guidelines & procedures regarding Sales Practice compliance
  • Oversee/support global training programs, communications & other awareness initiatives for Sales Practice compliance
  • Create reports, provide analysis to illustrate trends for all risks for which we have oversight
  • Conduct data analysis and surveillance activities to proactively identify Sales Practice issues
  • Provide onboarding training to local compliance officers & ongoing guidance/training on the application of our global policy/programs
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of country and regional level Sales Practice Compliance activities to ensure efficient and effective oversight of top risks within the Sales Practice risk category


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4-5 years’ experience in compliance risk management in life insurance or banking
  • Existing and evolving sales practice techniques and products create an atmosphere which requires strong technical knowledge, analytical abilities, and integrative thinking to identify, assess, and elaborate on potential risks to both the Company and the customer.  Emerging sales concepts will provide ongoing challenges, as they may not be covered by standards and/or precedents
  • Communication: Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of authority up to and including officer levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Maintenance of confidentiality in all Company-related activities. Promote a positive environment, which is conducive to top performance. Multilingual a plus.


  • Project management skills.
  • Advanced experience using Excel or statistical analysis tools
  • Leadership experience / capabilities; understanding & sensitivity to global cultures
  • This position will be based in New York, NY and may require international travel.  The incumbent will have direct interaction with associates and business clients in other regions and time zones, therefore hours of work at times may be non-traditional.
  • Supervision and Guidance received: Based on overall knowledge and skills required of the position, minimal guidance is expected to be required from the AVP of Global Sales Practice. Only guidance for extremely complex issues or for departmental direction and objectives is anticipated.
