Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintain a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago.  This role will be responsible for supporting new equity acquisitions for MetLife’s general account and third-party investors. The portfolio includes office, retail, industrial, multi-family and hotels.  The real estate analyst position plays a critical role in the MetLife Real Estate organization. The Senior Analyst position will support three different business units within Risk, Research and Analytics team: Mortgage Ratings, Valuations, and Strategic Programs and Process Management.

  

Key Responsibilities:  

Mortgage Ratings

  • Assist with developing internal credit ratings for proposed and existing commercial mortgages
  • Assist the Ratings team through the ratings process and use of commercial mortgage credit models. 
  • Support the Director of Investment Ratings in assessing ratings and valuations (rating migration, portfolio rating stratification, portfolio valuation trends, underwriting trends / cap rate trends, etc.).

Valuations

  • Assist with internal review of quarterly valuations performed by external valuation consultants and MIM asset managers
  • Support the Director of Valuations in provision of oversight and guidance to consultants and asset managers
  • Consolidate valuation results by property type and geography for trend analysis and benchmarking.   
  • Compare valuation assumptions to those used in prior valuations to determine key drivers of value change.

Strategic Programs and Process Management

  • Analyze mortgage origination, loan management, equity acquisition, asset management and portfolio management processes, as well as new product implementations and front office reporting needs
  • Document business process and management reporting changes needed to support business goals and objectives
  • Identify and select potential business process solutions in partnership with Debt Strategies Group and Equity Strategies Group, production analysts, acquisition specialists, etc.
  • Collaborate with regional office teams and portfolio management teams to implement solutions that meet business requirements

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 2+ yrs of related experience
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented individual  
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication
  • Outstanding organization and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Information Management, Finance or other related field of expertise
