The Senior Analyst will support the Head of Asset Management, an Associate Director focused on Innovation and PropTech, as well as an Assistant Portfolio Manager supporting MetLife’s General Account. The role will leverage the successful candidate’s experience and expertise in financial analysis, market research, technology and communication/organization skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Equity Real Estate Management Support Summary:
Primary responsibilities include providing analytical, performance management, reporting and operational support for MIM’s management of the equity real estate portfolio. The analyst will also provide broad support for various Portfolio Management and Asset Management related processes.
- Assist Head of Asset Management implement policies and procedures across our real estate platform
- Monitor property type, geographic, tenant, and other concentration risks across our real estate platform
- Identify trends/challenges/opportunities in our portfolio(s) using tools such as Power BI and VTS
- Assist product type sector teams with tracking trends and proposing best practices for each product type
- Review annual budgets and quarterly reports and work with Head of Asset Management on addressing major challenges/variances
- Be an active member of our Environmental, Sustainability & Governance (ESG2) working group
- Be an active member of our Real Estate Technology Advisory Committee (RETAC) working group
- Support the Portfolio Manager, Head of Asset Management, and Head of Equity Strategies in special projects related to the equity portfolio
PropTech & Innovation Support Summary:
Primary responsibilities include supporting the review, assessment and implementation of innovative, cutting-edge PropTech across the equity portfolio focusing on; identifying new NOI drivers & expense reduction measures, improving occupant experience, and driving tenant acquisition and retention. The Senior Analyst will also provide support in the administration of a wide variety of in-place equity technology and innovation platforms/systems.
- Monitor structural trends in real estate technology, and their implications on real estate and other real assets
- Work closely with internal Real Estate Technology Working Groups to identify, review and beta best in breed products for the real estate equity portfolio
- Assist in the preparation of real estate technology/PropTech thought-leadership materials for both internal and external stakeholders
- Regular interaction with Asset Management Directors, Portfolio Managers, and other business leaders, to ensure strategic advice and innovation are being implemented at property & portfolio level
- Assist in the maintenance, upkeep, enhancement and administration of real estate equity systems (EMS, MRI, VTS, among others)
- Act as data steward/custodian for important data analytics across key real estate equity systems
- Monitoring industries complementary to real estate for new technologies, emerging business models and social initiatives, and seeking opportunities for effective collaboration
Portfolio Management Support Summary:
Primary responsibilities include providing analytical, performance management, reporting and operational support for MIM’s management of the Affiliated Insurance Companies’ (AIC) equity real estate portfolio. The analyst will also provide broad support for various Portfolio Management and Asset Management related processes.
- Establish strong working relationships with MIM’s regional field offices, Research Risk & Analytics, Finance and Accounting departments
- Coordinate the completion of quarterly and annual reporting packages
- Perform portfolio sensitivity analysis on property acquisition/disposition opportunities
- Track impact of transactions on various portfolio constraints, such as Risk Based Capital (RBC) and development limits
- Coordinate regular pipeline and portfolio updates to client stakeholders and senior management
- Maintain and enhance portfolio performance / exposure vs. benchmarks
- Monitor property type, geographic, tenant and other concentration risks within the portfolio
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable business-related field required
- 3-5 years of commercial real estate experience with various property types
- Proficiency with ARGUS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
- Results orientated team player. Emphasis on communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Preferred:
- Experience with Visio, Python, and SQL a plus but not required
