Role Summary:

We are seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the technical delivery of MetLife Investment Platforms. The ideal candidate will possess prior technical leadership experience in investments industry, strong development, communication, collaboration, and project management skills, also have hands-on experience in leading complex systems projects using cloud and on-prem technologies with ability to influence people across the organization. Solid understanding of informational processing fundamentals and best practices.  Provides technical expertise to product teams that are building foundational solutions using Azure Cloud platform. Collaborates with the product line architect to review solution design and roadmap. Enables product delivery through hands-on development and in collaboration with developers, analysts and business to build fully vetted products that ensures that new capabilities are implemented according to enterprise standards enabling enterprise caliber cloud data platforms.  Proven experience developing strategic system and architecture plans.   Leadership of the global Investments securities and derivatives trading teams with resources spread across Whippany, Cary, Tampa and India.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for design and implementation of scalable cloud solutions, using distributed application architecture and tools for customers. Drives and facilitates team design discussions and meetings across teams. Owns the technical relationship with key stakeholders and partnering teams.
  • Working with non-technical business partners and facilitating group discussion to understand business requirements and provide design solutions.
  • Individual contributor to work across teams, providing technical expertise on design while following the architecture guidelines. Excellent analytical, conceptual and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Responsible to partner across the broader Investments organization to share/leverage learning, help/participate in designing the future state roadmap and develop common cloud solutions that can be used across the department.

 

Position Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a solutions architect who will be engaged in analysis and development of strategic system architecture plans and execution of the same
  • 4+ years hands on experience developing applications using distributed architecture and 1+ year of experience of developing applications in the cloud
  • Proven experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring team members in architecting, designing, and planning out complex technical implementations
  • Ability to build, deliver and operate complex, cloud-based systems.
  • Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices
  • Proficiency with various database technologies and solutions, including both SQL and NoSQL
  • Knowledge in Azure PaaS with components like Cosmos, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Data Lake/BLOB Storage, Azure Functions, ServiceBus, Event Hub, SQL PaaS, Synapse
  • Deep understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Understanding with Microservices architecture and designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Agile software development (like Scrum or Kanban)
  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous testing
  • Full stack engineer with ability to write object-oriented, self-documenting, maintainable code
  • Experience around information risk, security, PII, SOX and legal compliance requirements.

The wage range for applicants for this position is [the more specific figure (for example (only): $80,000) or range within which the hiring manager reasonably expects to hire (for example (only): $70,000 - $85,000)]. The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the sales incentive plan for your position.
