Role Value Proposition: 


MetLife Investments is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineering Lead to enhance the technical delivery of MetLife Investment’s Cloud Solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong development and engineering capabilities, communication, collaboration, with hands-on experience implementing DevOps tooling and cloud infrastructure automation for continuous delivery of a cloud native platform.  Solid understanding of best practices and developer enablement required.


Provides technical expertise for product teams that are building foundational solutions using Azure Cloud platform. Collaborates with the product line architect to review solution design and roadmap. Enables product delivery through hands-on development and in collaboration with developers, analysts and business to build fully vetted products that ensures that new capabilities are implemented according to enterprise standards enabling enterprise caliber cloud data platforms. Proven experience implementing strategic system and architecture plans.

Key Responsibilities:


The Principal Cloud Engineering Lead works with the product teams to streamline the implementation and delivery of microservice components built and managed by the Cloud Data Integration Team for the Investments Data Lake.  He/She needs to have a passion for Agile DevOps enabled software development, infrastructure automation, and coding CD pipelines to accelerate the team’s delivery of business value.


The ideal candidate for this role needs to have extensive software development experience on Microsoft Azure, who understands the problems across Dev, Sec and Ops for a highly regulated business environment with a security and compliance mindset. 


Will assist in the design, development, and automation of a cloud native development and delivery value stream.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: ­­ 


  • 10-15 years of experience
    • Developing cloud native software solutions, DevOps pipelines, and/or Infrastructure automation
    • Cloud native and API-driven solution stack, data processing, reactive architecture
    • Microservice-oriented, self-healing, containerized applications
  • 3-5 years working on Microsoft Azure
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment (Github or Azure DevOps preferred)
    • Infrastructure Automation (Terraform preferred)
    • Container Creation and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • E2E test automation
  • Proven experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring team members in architecting, designing, and planning out complex technical implementations
  • Ability to build, deliver and operate complex, cloud-based systems.
  • Proficiency with various persistence technologies and solutions
  • Knowledge of Azure PaaS with components like Cosmos, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Data Lake/BLOB Storage, Azure Functions, ServiceBus, Event Hub, SQL PaaS, Synapse
  • Deep understanding of Microservice / Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Understanding of Microservices architecture and designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of data processing fundamentals and best practices
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous testing
  • Full stack engineer with ability to write object-oriented, self-documenting, maintainable code
  • Experience around information risk, security, PII, SOX and legal compliance requirements.

The wage range for applicants for this position is $113,600 to $174,100. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including health benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
